Well to answer your Question title: Just do it. you control the hand to mouth movement...so make a decision. the choice is the same for everyone, eat healthy or eat crap.
Try this spread to help you stay "full" throughout the day
Morning (hopefully after some good cardio) eat a cup of PLAIN oatmeal mixed witha scoop of Casein protein powder and a spoon of peanut butter or a pacakge of raisins. I like choclate protein power for this, but carmel with the raisins is good too. The Casein is slow digesting and will stay with you longer. 4-500 calories
Mid morning, 2-3 hours later have a handful of almonds or a couple of slices of turkey lunch meat and some carrots. Something to tide you over, keep your blood sugar level, and keep your metabolism up about 100 calories
Lunch: Lean protein, veggies, fruit...keep it at or under 400 calories. Stay away from white flours and sugar.
2-3 hours later: Another 100 calorie or so snack...nuts, lean protein - maybe a protein shake.
Dinner: 500 calories or so, again lean meat, grean veggies, whole wheat/grains
Thats about 1500 calories of lean protein, whole grains, veggies and fruit...take a good multi vitamin in the morning
should be good to go. Sub in ground turkey for your beef, chicken breast (skin free, not fried) will be your new best friend. Get familiar with the produce section. Get creative with healthy foods. Its easy and can be very tasty and fulfilling...diet is key, its all your choice

Fresh foods - veggies and fruit. Balance that with whole grains and lots of water. Limit your sugar intake as much as possible and avoid eating meat every day (although you don't need to become a vegan). Stay away from stimulants (caffeine) and alcohol. Your body probably isn't used to eating well but will eventually get used to a disciplined diet. It's your mind which is rebelling when you try to eat right - but it is like a computer and will get used to how you determine to program it.

I assume you are exercising regularly too, if you aren't you should be. Carbs are not evil, no matter what our couch potato society is telling you - and they tend to fill you up a bit more in my experience. Eat carbs, love carbs, enjoy carbs - "good" carbs that is. Whole grains, beans, nuts, fruits & veggies, always avoid refined, processed, high-sugar products. Try eating smaller amounts more often instead of 3 big meals a day. Try five or six smaller meals spaced out more often to avoid those "hungry" spots. Drink lots of water, all day long.

We're in the same boat!
I try to eat fruits for breakfast and a light dinner, maybe soup.
For supper is my weakness ...
It helps to not keep junk in your home and pack healthy treats for when you are at work. They have alot of cool healthy snacks that do taste good and the small tv dinners are real good. Don't let the titles fool you into thinking they taste terrible because they are very good and portioned right for you.
Try to drink alot of water. The only way I can do it is drink it with my meals and snacks.
