I feel that we went into this war with good intentions, and we needed to do it. That being said, what I feel about it now, 4 years later is another story. I spent 16 months of my life over there and I wouldnt trade it for anything else. We did so much good over there, liberals dont even know. While they are over here talking alot of BS about it we are over there doing all we can to make this world a better place.

How do I feel about the war (in Iraq)?
A necessary evil
How would I feel if someone was being anti-American?
Dang... happens all the time.
Back in WW II, at a base in Iceland, the troops were waching a news-reel... this was before television. In the sports segment, it showed the New York Yankees hitting a home run. The place went wild.... except for one guy who booed. The poor guy was, according to the story, not treated with great fondness by the rest of the base. The next morning the base newspaper came out and on page 1 was the headline,"We're Fighting for the Right to Boo the Yankees"..
Some people seem to think we shouldn't be there. Well, we are. Some seem to think we should pull out now. Well, we can't. Some wan to know when they're going to get to leave Iraq. If they know, so does the enemy... thanks to a naive media.
How would I feel about it? I don't like it. But sometimes it's hard to tell if a guy's just trying to get something exciting going online, or if the guy's serious. And, sadly, sometimes difficult to tell the enemy from the anti-American who lives in this country. And there's not a whole lot one can do about it anyway.

I think the way we conducted the war was and is a bad idea - I prefer getting hard data, talking to the experts and THEN making a plan - as opposed to running off half-****** to invade the wrong country, offend possible allies, make many people in the mid-east hate us even more, get our soldiers killed daily and still be no closer to a solution - while creating a massive national debt. But then I think we've been handling the middle east badly for over 50 years. And then there is the underlying greedy little reason - oil.
As for anti-american, I wish I could remove that word from the dictionary - in the last seven years it has become just a way of trying to keep people from speaking out against injustice and stupidity for fear of being called a traitor. My priorities are first above all things to try and be a decent being, and secondly to demand of my country, the USA, that it also be a decent being and that we Americans collectively live up to the ideals contained in the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights, including supporting freedom, liberty and justice for all - I think doing this is the truest form of being an American. All of which means I believe in freedom of speech, the right to dissent and civil disobedience - I cite the Boston Tea Party, the American Revolution, the 60s. Thank God for the dissenters - sometimes they are lunatic, sometimes they are wrong, sometimes they are right - so often they are the conscience of a country.
P.S. Frichalf, I would love to know about the good we are doing over there because right now I am fairly depressed about the whole war and see very little good in it - could you please post particulars of what you mean (to the extent safe and permissable to do so)? Thanks.

Anti-American? I often wonder what that means? Before Bush it was a very narrow idea speaking out AGAINST the nation spying treason. But now if I say that I support the troops but oppose the war I am anti american. If I say that our occupation of the middle east and our refusal to see any side but Israel's and our refusal to speak with anyone who has a different opinion than us then again I am unamerican. It scares me how faschist this country has become. I am not afraid of terroist I am afraid of my own government tapping my phone cause I dare to point out my concerns.

I think it is an illegal war started with lies and mis-information.
Having said that...
I support the troops 100%, they were called and the answered.
In fact I am over here with them in the middle east working in support.
That kid is an idiot, let him spout his vile crap because, I have been working and living with arabs for almost a year now and the reason they hate us, is because they cannot get past thier own self interest to accomplish anything.
Everything they try and do is a mess, other arab countries can't do anything about Iraq because they all squabble about "What's in it for me?"... they can only say we are doing it badly.
Living in the middle east is like living in a counrty full of 3 year-olds... they all say "Mine" and "Gimme", but never think about the long term or how something will affect them down the road.

Iraq war was correct!...the occupation IS what has been done wrong!
the removal of Saddam is right on, a precedent that should be follow, to send a message to all tyrants "to behave or else"...
if this was done more often this world would be democratic and no tyrants!
problem with Iraq was the way the OCCUPATION was conducted later AFTER the initial invasion...terribly wrong (not enough troops to control the country)...!!
people make the MISTAKE of confusing the war!... with the occupation/nation rebuild phase AFTER the liberation of Iraq from Saddam!....that phase IS what has gone terribly wrong!
now with rummy gone (the culprit of the messy occupation) things have turned around big time!
but no, the war, to remove a nasty dictator was not wrong...the occupation was...and now it is been fixed...4 years late! ...but finally it is been fixed!

I feel we need to be in Iraq, whether it was right or not to go in, were there so we need to secure Iraq before pulling out. If we leave now, Iran along with its crazy dictator will go in and take over Iraq. To the anti Americans I would say kiss my *** and get out of my country if your anti American. We have a great country and we should be proud to live here. Think of the troops that risk their ( our ) lives fighting in Iraq for people in the U.S to voice their anti American opinions. If it wasnt for the brave there would be no land of the free.

the war in iraq was pretty much over a week after it started. what the us forces are doing now is keeping the peace , if they leave the scene there is no guarantee that another dictator does not take power so their presence is now as necessary as it was the first they.

It's a war on terrorism. As long as I can go about my daily life without being killed then the war is great as far as I am concerned! I love the men and women who put themselves in danger so that I can be safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone else is just ignorant.
Just FYI .. The US has never occupied Iraq.
