My brother passed away a while ago and I miss him dearly so I am getting a tattoo to always have him with me. We both worked on his 65 fast back mustang together and he treasured that car like it was his baby and I was thinking of getting the mustang emblem on my wrist with his birthdate and date of death since the car meant so much to him. What color should I get?

A myspace page? How sweet and heart-felt. Why get a tattoo that will forever remind you of your family member when you could just make a myspace page instead? Ridiculous. I think that the memorial tattoo is a wonderful idea, and it's a design that will actually mean something. I've been fortunate enough to have nobody truly important to me die, so no I don't have a memorial tattoo. Oh and to the above poster, that verse in the bible to which you refer speaks about pagan rituals of tattooing, and I doubt a memorial tattoo is a pagan ritual.

If I were doing that tat I would go for traditional mustang emblem colors. The Red, White and Blue stripes behind the horse and the Mustang would be silver or chrome. That is the emblem on the 65 fast back I believe. Just seems to fit the idea behind the tat.
Memorial tats are the hardest to plan, I have one on my forearm that took me almost 7 years to get the design perfect, and then the artist spent some time tweaking to get the effect I wanted. I say talk to the artist, most inkslingers out there are great at the design and placement process. Of course if helps if the artist knew the one being honored in ink.

From nose to tail. The colors: [yellow, fading into orange, fading into red, fading into black]. These colors compliment one another. Nice bright colors for a female.
Have you thought about maybe adding [65'] in text style or ['Sixty Five'] in font style under the ponies tail? Signalizing his 65 Mustang I think this would make it more personal along with his birthday and date of death.
I love your idea of a ford mustang emblem for a memorial tattoo of your brother. I totally understand why you want to do this. I will be getting a memorial tattoo of my dad. To always have him with me too. As a little girl I used to stand on the front bumper of his truck and watch him work on the motor. I'd hand tools to him. Watching him taught me alot.

Awesome idea!
I know too many people who go for the full portrait.
What color was the car? You may want to get the color of the emblem in the color of the car, and then have it outlined in black. The text of the dates/name can be in black too.
Or, you may want to do it all in black, and then have a "sheen" done in white, kind of like a black white effect. Some tattoo artists are good with metallic looks in black and white.
Always research your tattoo artist. Ask some of your friends with tattoos who they recommend, or if you see someone on the street ask where they got theirs done.
Go in with samples and examples! They'll draw something up for your and get your opinion. A good tattoo may take some time to get done right!
Good luck, and wonderful tribute.

Just wanted to say I think that's a lovely idea, very meaningful. I'm having an old tattoo on the inside of my wrist covered with 6 roses for my Gran who dies in May. She had 6 children & asked only for 6 roses on the top of her coffin.
I don't know what colour you should go for but I'm sure your brother would love it. It's a beautiful idea.

The black of your brother's mustang might be too harsh. Maybe there was there trim or something he kept in the car that was a nice color and would work for your tattoo.
Normally I am very opposed to tattoos. Not so in your case. It sounds like a truly loving act.
Bless you.

My sister passed this year too and I had a memorial done for her. I at first was going to do only old school black and gray but I got some input from the artist and put red in it for the passion for life she had, the blood we shared, and the hearts that miss her still.
My condolences and I hope that it turns out to be an awesome memorial for you like mine did for me!

I'd say go for a black mustang logo. If you wanted a small picture of the actual car i'd go for red.
Also, i think that your idea is a really good one. It's something personal, with deep meaning to you, and i sincerely doubt you'll regret getting this.

How about a Mustang horse, you can explain it to the people who ask. I think and heard red tattoo ink fades. So dark black or dark blue might be of best.
