go to the doc and find out if it is strep, a cold, or maybe you have thyroid problems. buy some throat spray in the cold medicine section, that stuff always works. just make sure you spray it directly on your tonsils

If you go to a doctor, which you really should do, you'll no doubt get a prescription for antibiotics which must be taken for several days, consistantly, to be effective. If you want something that might act a lot faster to relieve pain by reducing the swelling, get some 500 mg caps of Goldenseal from a health food store and make sure they're fresh. Then take one before every meal. This may or may not work for you. No guarantee. But it works for me on tooth infections in a matter of hours. It was recommended to me by a friend who claims it helped her with a bad lung infection. She told me that Goldenseal is known as Nature's Penicillin.
When I was much younger I got toncillitis frequently, complete with a painfully swollen throat, but I never had my tonsils removed. As I got older the problem just went away. I'm 70 years old, now. So far, so good.

it could be strep throat (i've had it 3 times). Just go to a doctor to have it confirmed if it is strep. If it is, he/she will prescribe antibiotics and after taking those for a few days, you should be fine.
