My both legs are swelled but my left one is swelled so bad I can't see my knee. Just to let you know, I am a diabetic and I have chicken legs. Is this normal to have this type of swelling going on?

Hi Lynn

No it's not normal to have that kind of swelling after an appedictomy. Diabetes can cause poor circulation and make limbs swell, so can lymphedema which could have happened to you as the result of the surgery, the appendix is near the inguinal lymph nodes which are in the crease of the leg. If you were genetically prone to lymphedema, then the surgery could have brought it on. Get to the dr and get checked out for blood clots, blood sugar counts, and if those appear ok, ask about lymphedema. If you do get a diagnosis, joining a support group is a good thing, Lymphland.com is a great website to read about lymphedema and they have a yahoo groups support group too that is chock full of good info.

I don't think it is normal for you to have that much swelling. You have to be so careful because you have diabetes. It sounds like you are retaining fluids. I would call the doctor.

No it's not normal at all. Contact your Dr. or call or go to the ER right away. You could have a blood clot or something. This is very serious. Get it checked out ASAP!!

You had an appendix removed not leg surgery. This is not normal. Go to the ER.

Good luck!
