Why don't you believe in Freya? Or Ordo? Or Shiva? Or Coatlicue? Or Hestia?

I don't believe that there is a god of any sort, including the one you are probably referring to. I don't believe in any of the Hindu gods, Japanese gods, Australian Aborigine gods, Inca gods, Ancient Egyptian gods, Aztec gods, Mayan gods. I never believed in any of the Ancient Greek or Roman gods or the Old Scandinavian gods ....
Because
It is abundantly clear that ALL gods were, and are, invented by a weak-minded mankind out of a need for protection and then falling for the holy men's promises of everlasting life . Yeah, sure. For ancient man that might have been something that they WOULD fall for. I am not an ancient man. Are you?
Where do I think I came from? My Mother.
There is some theory that life on this planet was seeded by the arrival of an asteroid bearing bacteria. A theory at this time.
Where did the universe come from? The universe was always there. The CONTENTS is a different matter ... ha! matter! Look at the Big-Bang theory with an open mind. Most humans with an open mind, and even a little intelligence to apply, would accept this theory rather than a magic and invisible sky wizard did it. That's kiddie-story time material.
Are these answers mature enough? You must decide.

I came from my parents. We all come form a long line of different species that have evolved over time.

There is plentiful proof for this.

The universe, as we see it, came about from the big bang. Where that came from, I do not know.

Now tell me, why should I claim that god did it? Is that not just failing to answer the question? Because I just need to ask "Where did god come from?" and you are in the same position as me.

The difference is that I have a library full of facts that support my position, you have a book written by bronze age goat herders that is contradicted by many known facts.

How is your position different from claiming Zeus Did It, or Odin Did It?

How can you show that Jehovah was responsible and not Zeus, Odin, Osiris or any of the thousands of other gods that people have devoutly believed in over the years?

Do you believe in unicorns?
Do you believe in mermaids?

Why not? Could it be that the default position is that things are assumed not to exist until there is some evidence that they really do?

If so, what evidence do you have for your god? The Earth and the universe are not evidence, there is ample evidence that they are purely natural in origin.

So, if you have no real evidence, the question is not why I disbelieve, but why do you believe?

So, why do you believe in god? And does that belief have a rational argument behind it?

If you must know... I used to believe. I believed only because I was taught to. I was "afraid" not to believe. Then, I actually started studying the Bible. Not just reading... studying. And I began to realize that it was so full of contradictions. Further, there was nothing that "proved" God's existence.

I went beyond that and researched who compiled the Bible and why they did. I came to the conclusion that it was put together with bias with one thing in mind. Control.

I examined how the church used the Bible in the early days and what things were institutionalized by the church as a way of gaining wealth.

It isn't like I woke up one day and said "Oh, what a good day to be an atheist."

I found no proof of the existence of God.

Can I prove that he does not exist? No. But the burden of proof does not fall on me. Typically if someone supports an idea, it is their responsibility to prove it.

And to follow your own lines of thinking... if there is a God, where did he come from? And if you contend that he just IS, then I will contend that the universe just IS. :)

Where do I think the universe came from? I don't know, and it's not important. What is important is that we are here and we have an opportunity to do things for the betterment of our situation and that of future generations. Do we really need to believe in some god? There is no evidence FOR a god, and so far, there seems to be a naturalistic explanation for just about everything. Just because we don't know how we got here doesn't necessarily mean "god did it."

Because I called upon god for years and I was never given any answers. I was sick of being in pain and if there was a god I hated him. So i turned to science and since have discovered the truth of the universe. It's not that there isn't a higher power controlling things. There is, but it's not the kind of god taught about in Sunday School. It's neutral. It knows not of good and evil. It just creates!

i wasnt offended until you thought you could work the little diva attitude and act like a b*tch. "just keep it movin"... maybe if you picked up a book you could understand the views you are asking about. believe it or not they do still sell books and unless they came out with "the ultra new and improved testament" with bonus features and extended scenes it is not against the ten commandments to read so try looking it up for yourself. hell just google "big bang theory" and "evolution" for starters. wouldnt want to overload you.

and just so you know, you have to have some talent or intelligence before you can run around thinking you're some fabulous diva entitled to some answers.

Im not a religion rebel or anything..I just think on a scientific level I guess. I just believe there is no god. There is no heaven or hell....When I die, thats it. Thats the end for me. I dont know how the entire universe was created but I dont think it was done by a god. To me, the bible is just a book written long ago to scare people into behaving and to make people worship a certain way.......I also dont believe in psychics, UFOs or ghosts......

It makes me laugh, on the inside. Big Bang Evolution and sweet sweet justice. I have a hard time believe in a guy who can do whatever he wants and has the best scape goat in the world, because we can't fathom what he is thinking, sorry but destroying an entire society because you made them sin to much is not a good man. Punishing an entire race because two people ate an apple is not fair or just, and giving us free will then putting a gun to our head and say, which would you rather have death or worship with all your heart and I will spare you. No that is not free will that is rape of our soul and death of good faith. Sorry to much trust in a being that can't be held accountable for it's actions. If I go out and kill you and say God told me too, who can refute that, others praying yea I will just say no thats the devil speaking to you, no not fair, just, reasonable or truth. Though I am a little offended you have such little confidence in man, we have done wondrous things all with out a magical hand in every honey pot.

i came from the result of my parents having sex. i have not found a solid explanation for where the universe came from, but i can not accept that is was magically created by some almighty being.
for arguments sake, say the universe was created by some sort of god, where did that god come from? if this god was always in existence, then where did existence come from. or why could the universe not have always existed.

there are just too many questions to all be answered by 'faith' or god.

thats mature my two cents.

I don't believe in gods because there is no evidence to support the existence of any god.

I came from my parents.

I don't know where the universe came from, or if it came from anything at all. Just because I don't know, I am not going to assume that some god must have done it. Why do you?

If you think everything must come from something, where does your god come from?

We must think honestly, and critically.
