Just take it out over night to thaw no defrost then cook it about 15min per lb the next day minus the last 15mins so as not to dry it out too much (that's what i do) cause the ham is already cooked most off the way (cured) please don't put it in water just leave it out overnight the weather has chilled up a bit so you don't have to worry about it getting to warm

After dinner I line the kitchen sink with newspaper
Put the ham in the sink after it has been wrapped in more newspaper
Cover it with an additional layer of paper.
It thaws beautifully over night

Does have metal pieces on the outside, or is it too large to fit in the microwave? if no to both, slowly, and carefully, preferably at a lower than usual setting
If the microwave isn't an option, then put it in the sink, and let it sit, under running water.
