My psychiatrist just put me on zyprexa for my depression and it pretty much knocked me out for the first two days. What has been you're experience taking it? good or bad?

It seems like everything I take I get the worst reactions to. The only difference with this is I haven't been awake long enough to hallucinate...half the time I don't remember waking up until someone tells me! I missed my pill this morning, that's really the only reason I'm awake right now.

It's used for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. That was not my question, but thank you. Like I said everything she has given me [lexapro, cymbalta, and lithium] has made me hallucinate and suicidal so she tried something else. But it has been known to help slightly with depression. I just wanted to know what others have experienced.

I assist a man who takes this drug....and some days yes he is very vague, to the point that he cannot make a cup of tea, but on other days....he is quite alert. He has schizophrenia, and has taken this drug for many years.....when I first began working with him he had many such "vague" days....so we lowered his dose, he now has about 1-2 days like this a month....it certainly appears to come and go in cycles. I would suggest you go back to your psych and tell him that you are having real difficulties, and possibly look at lowering the dose as it appears that it may be just a tad too much for your system to cope with, with all your faculties intact.
