I had the same thing happen last summer. My eyelid would constantly twitch which got very annoying when I was driving. It woudl be on and off all day and for days and days. I would say it lasted about 3 weeks - then stopped for about a month and came back again for about 2 weeks. I asked a few people what it could be - some said stress, which made sense since we were in the middle of selling out house (in this horrible market). It finally went away and it hasn't happened for about 6 months.

There are a lot of fatigued or stressed people out there!
I've just searched for "Eye twitches" and Y!A reports it has been asked 1,478 times.
(up from 1,465 three days ago)
It's an annoying symptom of no great medical import.
It's often connected with tiredness or stress.
Apart from the accurate but usually useless advice to "Cultivate a more relaxed lifestyle", this propensity for a twitch or tic can be associated with marginally low potassium levels. Try drinking fresh tomato juice or, if that's unpalatable, bananas might be the next-preferred source.

I've had this for years - it comes on when I don't get enough sleep or whenever I'm stressed in any way. So, I guess the best way to prevent it would be to get plenty of sleep and try to avoid stressful situations if that is at all possible! Otherwise there's not much that can you do - it's a nervous tick and will just come and go..

your nervous about being embarrassed of it, making it get worse and worse. Listen to music and sing the lyrics while imagining yourself dance to it. That makes both the auditory and visual part of your brain focus on something other than being embarrassed.

my brother has the same think.
although he also has tourettes along with it.
he's 24 years old now, and it's kind of gone away.
but when he gets upset or nervous, it comes back.
i think possibly because you're so aware of your eye twitching that it makes it worse.
