cuz i think i am
i dont hate or even dislike homosexuals, but i do believe homosexuality is unnatural, not because they like the same sex, i think homosexual thoughts can be natural, but the intercourse itself is not meant to be that way. Our organs clearly show that sex is for creating and they fit together in a way that makes it obvious man and woman are to be together. I just dont see how gayness is seen as appropriate and things like pedophilia are not. i'm not a pedofile nor do i condone that either im just saying. I dont understand where this country draws its lines.

This may be one of the OLDEST lines in the world, but one of my best friends is homosexual. While I disagree with his choice, I have never "feared" him at all.
People (generally liberals) toss the word "homophobe" around in an attempt to embarass and shut people up who disagree with their own viewpoint. It's really dumb, because they will argue until they are blue in the face that no one should "label" others, and yet, they themselves throw these labels out when they feel like it without fear of any retribution for doing so.
As for the answerers who seem to think that you are connecting homosexuality with pedophilia, if they would only READ what you have written, you did NOT say anything to "connect" the two, only that you used both words in the same sentence. These people criticize others for making generalizations and jumping to conclusions, but, again, they themselves are guilty of the same infraction.
The country is at odds with itself, and the lines which USED to be clearly drawn are now being intensly fought over.... and I fear the only one who is losing is America. We are being torn asunder by the extreme "wackos" while the vast majority in the "middle" (used to be called the "Silent Majority") could be now called the "Intimidated Majority."
Have a polite day.

The difference between homosexuality and pedophilia is (and I'm going to be lynched for saying this, I'm sure) that homosexuality is NOT unnatural, while pedophilia is. Many species of animals practice homosexuality regularly; however, no species aside from humans and dolphins practice sex purely for recreation, and thus would not attempt sexual conduct with a sexually immature mate intentionally. Homosexuality has gained relatively widespread acceptance because frankly, science has proven that it's not some unusual or psychotic trait - pedophilia, on the other hand is unnatural and often unsafe for at least one of the parties.
In regards to your main question - it really depends on the useage of the word homophobia. Clinically speaking, a "phobia" means a fear OR an irrational dislike of something. However, colloquially, a phobia normally ONLY means a fear of something.
So technically, if you're against homosexuality, you ARE a homophobe - but not in the way the word is usually meant.

If I don't like spaghetti, does that mean I'm a pastaphobe? No. If I don't agree that people should dye their hair pink, does that make me a colorphobe? No.
Are you afraid of homosexuals? Do you run the other way when you see them on the street? Probably not.
So, yes, you can be against it and not be a homophobe.

I think you should go ask this question in the LGBT section. You might be very surprised and (hopefully) humbled when you find out that they are much more understanding of YOU than you are of them.
There is no comparison between homosexuality and pedophilia. Pedophilia is a crime on par with rape.

Not all animals commit homosexual acts, some are just horny and perverted like the gays. And, yeah you can be anti-homo and not be homophobic, it's what you believe.

How can you compare pedophilia with homosexuality, and then state you are not a homophobe? Are you serious?
