Has it been warmer in past global climates than today? Yes it has.
Have atmospheric CO2 levels in the past been higher in than today? Yes it has.
Are climatologists aware of past climates? Oh yes, they are very well aware.
In fact the above information is spelled out clearly and completely in the IPCC report. Climatologists are not hiding any information from the public. It's published on the web free for all to read. There is no conspiracy to get your money, seize your SUV or make you wear a loin cloth, love beads, and flowers in your hair.
So deniers, taking the above information into account, why do you suppose climate change is different now? Why are you being warned of the dangers of global warming and being urged to find environmental friendly alternatives to fossil fuels?

TIna, you didn't answer the question. I'm asking you "why you think" climatologists are warning us if past climates were warmer or contained more CO2 than today. There is one key difference and we are causing it. What do you suppose it is?

Bob, I believe those that are still skeptical after all attention that has been drawn to the problem are dogmatic deniers.

Tomcat- check page 466 in chapter 6 of the IPCC you will see you are wrong.

You answered your own question.
"I believe those that are still skeptical after all attention that has been drawn to the problem are dogmatic deniers."
There are certain people who will absolutely not be convinced by any preponderance of data. Even after we're hit by catastrophic climate change they'll probably continue to claim that it's all a part of a natural cycle.
They simply have no respect and/or understanding of the science. They don't want to, because they're in denial of the reality of the situation. As they say, ignorance is bliss.

Tina - CO2 levels haven't been this high in hundreds of thousands of years.
When they were coastlines were very different and plants grew in very different places. That would be ruinous to our coastal cities and agriculture. We DO NOT want to go there.
There is abundant proof that greenhouse gases are causing our present warming. Solar radiation is decreasing, just a bit. There is nothing else that can cause it (and see below, for other reasons we KNOW CO2 is mostly causing it).
This graph shows the various causes of warming over the last 100 years (they've changed over time). For the last 30 or so years, it's been us. Right now its 75%-95% us.

Sparhawk7322 - Here are some important facts about CO2.
It's BOTH a cause (through the greenhouse effect) and an effect (warming ocean waters release CO2). That's basic and undisputed science.
A key fact is this. When the Earth warmed in the past, CO2 levels rose hundreds of years later, proving it was mostly an effect. But this time CO2 levels are rising right along with temperature (which has NEVER happened before), proving that this time CO2 is mostly a cause.
There are some details about global warming that are not fully understood. But the fundamental thing has been proven: it's real, and mostly caused by us. Climatologists do agree about that:
"The fact that the community overwhelmingly supports the consensus is evidenced by picking up any copy of Journal of Climate or similar, any scientific program at the [climatology] meetings, or simply going to talk to scientists. I challenge you, if you think there is some un-reported division, show me the hundreds of abstracts that support your view - you won't be able to. You can argue whether the consensus is correct, or what it really implies, but you can't credibly argue it doesn't exist."

GWENS18A - You shouldn't label people in general. Many of the people who are unsure about global warming are simply skeptical, not dogmatic deniers.

I wonder. Since there is no science in the title IPCC, but there is government in the 'I' do you think that if the Conservatives put out their study of global warming they would come to the same conclusion?
Why would you think there would be any difference in the outcome if the 'scientist' kept to the facts and wouldn't let politics enter their decision?
How about if Exxon did a report for global warming? Do you think the scientist would keep integrity over their findings?
Why would you think that just because I don't accept your version of global warming, I am against alternative fuels? Isn't this a false assumption based on your biases?

You answered your own question.
It has been warmer in the past. CO2 levels have been higher in the past. So why should we believe that things are worse now? Looks to me like they were worse in the past.
What proof do you have that environmentally friendly alternatives to fossile fuels will make a difference? NONE.
That doesn't mean I don't share concerns about using more environmentally friendly fuels, etc. I do. I walk to the store rather than drive whenever I can. I consolodate trips when I do have to drive. I don't drive an SUV or other gas hog. I just don't believe that those things will increase global warming - especially when the data prove that, as you say, it used to be warmer in the past.

Tell me are you aware that the earth, over it's history is usually a much warmer place than it is now? Did you know that higher CO2 levels are an effect not a cause? Did you know that most of the scientists that support the global warming theory are not even educated in global climatology.
All this to the side I believe that we should do our best to protect our environment but you should beware when one side says that there is no alternate view. That is not the scientific way.

Cherry picking your own answers are you?
<<<
Are climatologists aware of past climates? Oh yes, they are very well aware.>>>
Do you not remember the hockey stick, it was cherry picked, and it was intentional. There are numerous proxy datasets as well as direct borehole measurements that indicate the MWP was warmer than current, and you will not find it in any IPCC report. The definition of such behavior is generally refereed to as lies of omission.

its always a good idea to take care of the planet and ourselves whether global warming is taking a toll or not. We were selfish beings and its very sad that we were and its very sad that some are denying this fact . ,

Because as your use of the language of religion instead of the language of science shows, there are some people (like you) who will believe anything that fits their own preconceived notions or prejudices. Fortunately, there are still some of us who think for ourselves and remain rightfully skeptical of unproven and poorly documented hypotheses.
