when we get older, we understand alot more than the younger generation. If you think about it, old(er) people know life for them is not much longer, some become angry, sad, depressed.some just give up, others deal with it. The brain goes, most things in life is done for them. You just have to let them be, act the way they want, and do what they want. Your parents understand, she has gone down hill, and will say and do things not like herself. I loved my grandma, but i can always feel the fear in her voice, and the sadness of her knowing anyday she could be gone. I have 1 grandma left, lost one 3 years ago, another 10,and one i never met, died before i was born. Love her, she wont be here forever.

Since love is what you aim for, try aiming some at your grandmother. Old people arent always aware of whats going on around them and can even become delusional. Try some patience and compassion on her and when she says things like that just smile and say well thank you grandma its the best present I ever got. She doesnt have many years left so try and give her that love your aiming for.

Grand parents are parents just older and wiser. They are not perfect, some get diseases, develop alzheimers that changes personalities and behaviors. Understand something, she might be dealing with issues, and its affecting her in ways she cannot control. You say she is lying, but what if this is dementia or alzheimers and she is confusing things, which happens with this disease? People with this disease sometimes invent things that didnt happen, accuse people of things they didn't do, over react to things. Its all old age hun. You have to be patient with her, be kind even if she seems out of it. I have a dad like that. Its hard for me too to sometimes have to be patient, kind, but I look at him and see he is just a person, fighting a disease he cannot control. Your grandma sounds like my dad. Be kind, appreciate them while you still have them. They are still people, not animals, or to be avoided.

Your grandmother may not be all there, and you are going to have to stop taking what she says so personally. Your screen name is very interesting considering you don't seem to know what unconditional love it. Really, this is only a problem so long, eventually you won't be bothered by her.

They fear when their time comes and how lonely they'll be. My aunt got a stroke from fear and stress after her granddaughters moved away. As people age, their memory and common sense isn't what it was years ago. They don't really make as much sense as they used to.
