Yes it would cause me to dislike this person, it's one thing to accidently open the door and another thing to stand there with the door open.

It's rude, but I think it's rather strange not to have a lock on the door too... everyone I know has a lock on their restroom door, while I don't lock mine at home (it's just me and on the rare occasions when I have a visitor it's just one person at a time so we know when the other's gone to use the restroom), I *always* lock up when I'm visiting anywhere where there's a bigger party so people might not have noticed I went in there.
Does this woman live there or is she a visitor too (at family getogethers)? Since almost all people do have a lock I could see how someone might not remember this particular family doesn't, and simply tries the door without knocking out of habit... but if it happened to me I'd still handle it differently, call sorry and *shut* the door real quickly rather than hang around....
But why go over rather than say something? Simply say 'would you shut the door please!' would probably help..

WHat is her problem? What a weird-o! Has she no respect for your toilet time privacy? Next time find a bathroom with a lock or I would go down the street to a gas station or anything to get away from her. Creepy.

Some people are not that modest and don't mind taking a crap in front of people. Like you- I'm not one of them. Maybe she is. Next time it happens and she is just hanging by the doorway, tell her that when you take a crap, you don't like having an audience- so shut the damn door. But say it in a way that comes off jokingly and non-confontational.

Tell her privately that it makes you uncomfortable to have peope intrude when you're in the bathroom. If she continues to do it after that, you might stop going over there until they put a lock on the bathroom door.

I think she's creepy too, and she's probably stupid and not very well bred. You might have to spell it out for her, as in calling out loudly, "Stay away from closed bathroom doors, Aunt Edna. If the bathroom is available, the door will be open."

you have every right to be pissed. the time in the bathroom should be yours alone. if need be, make a big deal about it. hint to you father in law that maybee the bathroom should have a lock on it for privacy. Don't do this infornt of you mother in-law, she will get offended

I think that's extremely annoying. I'm sorry about that. You should buy her a lock for that door. so when you use it, you can lock it.
