And Jesus paid the price... how come He isn't still being tormented? Isn't the punishment for sin, death? How could Jesus have paid the price if it was a continuing torment that we deserved? The only price Jesus suffered was death and after paying OUR debt, He was resurrected.

Christ was sent on the cross to die for the sins of His people - not the whole world, as most everyone believes. He went through torment on the cross by being nailed to it. He suffered and died for sin. He died a physical death like we all do, but He never sinned, so that is why He was resurrected into heaven, which is what will happen to all who are saved in Christ. We born again Christians will also be resurrected after we die. We must also pay the price for our sins, which is death. Jesus is God in the flesh, so Christ, being human, suffered as a human, but was - and still is - and always will be - sinless.

Spoken 4 is right: We only die once, then comes the judgment.

Hebrews 9:26- 28 - 26 - For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27- And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. 28 - So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

My opinion is nothing changed after the fact, in reality. The 'after death Heaven or Hell' concept is believed by a certain part of society but not by everyone.

Jesus said, "it is finished."

We only die once.

We didn't deserve torment, we deserved death.
