Can Christians show any evidence of this WITHOUT resorting to the circular argument 'The Bible says God exists and his word is true, thus the Bible is the word of God'.

It's funny, the Christians responding did so BY using the very argument I wanted them to avoid.

This proves my point. Thank-you Christians.

BTW, even bible does not say that bible is word of God. in OT st. paul says that all scriptures are inspired. But, he did not mention what exactly scripture means. the books in bible was collected much later to make a book. So, its all confusing. The only way to believe that bible is word of God is to just blindly believe whatever church says.

They can't. In fact, it can be proved that it isn't at all. It has been edited and revised on countless occasions. The most influential revision occurred during the 300's CE, after the Council of Nicea. Before there was any "official" Scriptures, the Church clubbed together and decided to filter out books that contradicted what they wanted to teach. The highest ranking Church members voted on what they wanted their official doctrines to be. The most important one was deciding whether they wanted to teach that Jesus was divine and the literal Son of God, or if he was just a very important prophet. It was close, but they decided that Jesus was divine. They then eliminated any book in the Bible that stated different from this. About 40 different Gospels were circulating at the time, but they cut the number down to 27. Any other texts that were found were burned. They also eliminated any Old Testament books that referred to the coming Messiah as a mere human sent by God, and not God himself. The remaining ones underwent serious revision by the Vatican. They had their scholars copy out and translate (poorly) new versions of the Bible. The scribes had to work at such fast paces that these were unavoidable. Some of these mistranslations were so immense that they have completely changed the Christian religion. For instance, the word that was translated as "virgin" that was used to describe Mary would instead be correctly read as meaning "young girl." Nothing in the original Bible claims that Jesus was born of virgin. The entire idea of Immaculate Conception is only inferred from these texts.

The above is not some "conspiracy theory" I made up, but rather, it is historical fact. There is no way someone can claim that the Bible is the direct word of God without looking like a complete fool.

Can you give me any evidence that the Bible is not the Word of God without the circular argument that you don't believe it is and therefore it is not...thanks in advance for proving my point.

If the Bible is the word of God, he must have hired bad translators.

You're right, even pointing out the foolish self-reference argument doesn't stop a christian from using it!

I say the Bible is nonsense. This is my word; therefore, the bible is nonsense.

Sorry folks, but even I can't by that kind of pseudo-logic and I'm the one who wrote it.

There are, however, some very undeniable pieces of evidence to point out God's lack of being, and they're all within your very own ability to examine and reexamine at your leisure. The only "instruments" one requires in order to obtain an entire set of data for consideration are his own eyes, ears, nose, finger tips and tongue. The remainder of sorting out the issue of whether God is or isn't, is merely a simple matter of drawing an honest conclusion based only upon what one personally discovers. Satisfy yourself until you are convinced beyond a doubt, or take my word for it.... you'll find everything but God by searching.

You have to look at the fact that the Bible was written over several hundreds of years with more than 40 authors. Yet, the message is constant, so it as to come from an author which is God.

Also, if you want to assert that the message is truly from God, than you also have to analyze its content. The Bible is very consistent with itself which again points to God. The Bible is also a very unique book in the sense of its moral teachings.

There are also several aspects of the Bible that are proven by historians and archeologists.

Compare it to all the religious books in the world and only the Bible was written as such.

Anyone who said there's no faith in Christianity is wrong. There is faith, but it's a reasonable faith. We have good reason to believe that Christ rose from the dead. Have you considered the alternatives? We know He died bc when they stabbed him in the side, blood and water flowed out, which means they pierced the heart which is encased in water. We know the disciples couldn't have stolen it since they wouldn't have gotten past the guards, and they wouldn't have died for something they knew was a lie, the Romans wouldn't take it, since it would cause an uprising, and the Jews would've displayed it publicly if they had it. The only real explanation is that Jesus rose from the dead, thus confirming His claim to divinity and proving God does exist. From this, we reason that Paul was inspired when he said that all Scripture is God breathed and inspired itself, therefore, the Bible is the Word of God.

Jesus is the Word. The Bible contains a small amount of the recording of that Word. It is the testimony of the Church, by the authority of Christ that we know this to be true.

C. S. Lewis:
"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

Though the Bible helps it is not the sole reason I believe in God, further it is not my goal in life to prove the existence of God, or the authenticity of his words to you or anyone else. The only person I have to prove it to is myself.
