I live in an apartment. there are 3 air vents for the levels in the apartment bulding. We live on the second level. We have squirrles that have gotten in our air vet for our level. They run around, thump and scratch. I was wondering if this was a serious problem. I was also wondering they must be going to the bathroom up there. can these things pose a problem? We have told our bulding manager about it but they havent done nothing about it. what should we do. the squirrles keep me up at night.

Having squirrels in there is just as bad as having rats in there. You want them to stay outside. Of course they poop and pee wherever they go. And they chew on things. They are probably storing food too.
The solution is to find out all the openings where they can enter, and covering them. You can cover ventilation vents with metal screen or hardware cloth.

Yes it can be a very big problem . you need to have something done for the simple fact that squirrles, roof rats ,mice ect are chewers and one of the things they chew on is wiring which can cause an electrical fire. I can't quite remember what the percentage is but it is a high one as far as that being alot of causes of home fires. Good luck.

I remember having squirrels in my old townhouse. They were up in the attic. We eventually called an exterminator since it got really annoying, it sounded like they might just fall through the ceiling with all the scratching and boring of the walls...lol. He didn't kill them, just sorta made them run off and destroyed their nest thing

Not sure about apartments...if you're allowed to call someone, then it's probably a good option.
