It is cancer of Cervix. And the disease if at stage IV. The definition for Stage IV Cervical cancer is - Cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

It is in a very difficult situation as from what you have said it seem to be spreading slowly to other organs. I have seen some cases where the Stage IIIB disease is found in the beginning stage itself and by treatments it has been controlled and the patient live for more number of years. When once the disease is detected in the lower stage and advances further, it is becoming difficult to treat and cure. However in your friends mother's case we need not to continue all sort of treatments nd it may book up slowly as it is in advance stage. I am not a doctor, but someone close to my family was diagnosed with Cervical cancer and I did a lot of reading on this. It is very common for Cervical cancer to spread to the lymph nodes in your groin area in the later stages.
