Many people mention it, yet very few, if any, abide by it.

It is not a question whether others follow such rule or not. The point is if you try to follow the rule yourself people will tend to give back whatever kindness you show. It may not happen overnight but it will surely happen.

Life is like a mirror. Whatever emotion or action you show to others, the same emotion or action will be given back at you. Smile at anyone and they will smile at you. Wave your hand at anyone and they will wave back.

Follow the rule and you will be one more reason why the world is a better place to live in...

God will not judge you according to what people do, but according to your own.
The point of Christ is to love your enemies, to do good to those who harm you and pray for those who wish to harm you...
Read the whole chapter of the verse where you got that from and you will see the context..
There is so much you can answer if you only read the source of what you speak from.
He explains it in that same book why he said it.

Simply put, it doesn't matter to God what OTHERS do. He wants you to focus on what you do.

how do you spend your money? do you think of OTHERS? the needy?
Do you set aside a tenth of your budget?
etc.

how about your time?
etc. there are many more that you can read in the teachings of Christ.

Get a Bible and read all the red words and you will get a quick grasp.

Do unto others as it would be beneficial to you.

Following that rule will be a lot more advantageous in life.

Gives the others a good example. Follow it through, but don't expect "God" to come down and help you solve your problems in any way at all, just as good as praying for Zeus to zap your opponents with lightning.

When I go about my day, dear one, I don't consider what others might do when I commit a random act of kindness, I merely do it. If others wouldn't respond in a positive manner to my actions, that's their choice, but it doesn't alter my actions.

God bless!

NOBODY follows this rule!

Most follow this one: I'm treating you the way I would want you to treat me if I were acting like you're acting!

It doesn't matter what others do .. its what YOU do..

" The Man Who foolishly does me wrong, I will return to him the protection of my most ungrudging love. The More evil comes from him .. the more good shall come from me"
