Last month my son told us that he was beginning the process of legally changing his name to Cash-Money God. I don't know the significance of it, but I figured it was just him being a rebellious 17 year old boy. He claims his real name, Ralph Finkelstein, isn't "gangsta" enough. Today he showed me the papers and all he has to do is submit them to city hall on Monday and it's official! I never thought he was seriously going to do this! As if this isn't bad enough, when my daughter found about what her brother was doing, she thought it was cool and told us that she decided to legally change her name to Jenny Juicy-Legs. She also doesn't like the name my wife and I gave her, which is Agnes Finklestein. Plus, she's only 16 years old! I tried to talk them out of this but they say I have no moral authority since I legally changed my name last year to Super King when I launched my rap label. What should I do with my 2 rebillios children

Did you really change your name to Super King?
Well I suppose you showed them the way,you can always kick them out as they are not your legal kids any more, or at least stop all the money going their way, food in their mouth and a roof over their head and that is only so you will not feel guilty about it. My way would be you do not have my name I am not responsible for your upkeep any more.
Actually I would be interested to know how one stood legally on this matter, if my kids changed their names and family name would I be still legally responsible, does any one know?

wow those are some pretty freaky names and i mean all of them. i honestly don't blame them but i would talk to them and tell them not to jump into something they might regret. cause how often can you change your name. i have always told my children if they want to do something against what we feel well they are going to have to wait till they are 18 and considered adults. which they did. no name changes though but your children would be more level headed as to what they really want. how can you get a job or get somewhere with names like that. jenny juicy-legs? hmmm. i can imagine where that will get her. Cash-Money God? uhu i know where he thinks he's headed. let them dream till they are 18. let him write it on a shirt and get some reactions from school or peers for a while. like a tattoo you just don't jump into the first one you like. good luck.

NOT yell and scream but alk to them like u would a normal person. maybe if hear the reason why they want to change there names u might be more willing. and about the names they chosen i would suggest u help them pick a appropiate name for there life. explain to them how name affect the work place. its really nothing u can do after that so good luck. and remember to talk!

How can you expect them to respect their name when you don't respect your name? Rebelling? I think they are making a statement. Every bit as valid as the statement you made when you changed your name. What's in a name? A rose is still a rose. When you put a name something, you put limit it. Does your name define you? Does their choice of names define them?

In Australia you can't change your name to anything frivolous like that.

Hopefully being underage will mean they will have to wait.

Let them change their names. They will regret it in later life and change back. When they go for a job or fill in a form and get funny stares, they will be embarrased and learn their lesson.

Find Stephen King to write your life story into one of his books.
