I would say some sort of Engineering in the Navy. Because hell, you may at one point get the chance to do it IN the Navy. But doing any welding in the military under engineering is a great headstart. Just make sure you do your research and when you feel you've done enough...Keep researching, talk to recruiters, but most importantly, talk to engineers in the military by any means because that's the only way you're going to get the full up truth with all details with no hidden doors.

Navy or Army Corps of Engineers. Underwater welder would be a great career. Rough training, but a good military career and a great civilian career.

If they can't guarantee anything, try welding training program and get SCUBA certified and then enlist. I think anyone with such a specific good idea should get to do it. Good luck!

Well pretty much, if you want to be an underwater welder,

'Your gonna have to be a navy diver.

So get fit, running, pushups, pullups and situps.

Learn how to study

Academics are huge for Navy divers.

Navy Driver, Great job, Though more than welding is required. You will be trained as combat specialist who will also be responsible for ship maintenance.
