If its someone who has a profile, see if they accept email. If not, or if its someone who does not allow email, maybe you could just post a detailed thank you on a few different answers catagories that are associated with the subject, and do this a few times over the next few days. Maybe they will see it. Good luck!

I agree, if you visit their profile you can see if they allow e-mail. If not, see if they have a Yahoo 360 page and leave a message on it in their comment space.
Or you can go back to the original question and leave a thank you in the comment section.
