... I remember the Texaco car being pretty competitive back in 2001. I also remember Rudd had a problem getting along with his team I believe and he left to drive for Wood Brothers.

... If Ricky Rudd would have stayed with RYR do you think he would have had better luck toward a championship? Was Wood Brothers a mistake?

Good Question! He was having so many problems, I don't think he had much choice but to leave. But, sadly, I don't think he would have won the championship either way.

Mistake yes?Mistake no?
When Rickyleft RYR there were problems with in the organization that was causing problems with driver-management-general employees.
Ricky had the chance to go to a more stable team but one with a poorer track record.
If he had stayed could the problem have corrected itself, yes but key team members would be gone as would trust with the management.

Yes and No. Yes he should of stayed, but No he was not gonna get a championship at RYR. Has anyone else since 2001 come close out of the RYR stable?

What's with all the hate? I wrote basically the same thing as others and got thumbs down? tuberk768 said exactly what I said and got a thumbs up. Is it because I added that RYR hasn't done anything since he left? Sorry, truth hurts.

Wood Brothers was a mistake, however, RYR has been on the decline since he did leave. Was he the cause of the decline? Doubtful, but I think maybe he could of had one more chance for something before that decline of RYR.

Do any of you actually remember the details when he left RYR? He was literally having fist fights with his crew members. You weren't going to fix that relationship without some serious work. Had he not left, the team would have most likely imploded around themselves.

Somebody said he should have stayed with RCR, that was the 1982-1983 seasons when Ricky drove the #3 for Richard Childress. Are you staying he should have stayed #3? Does that mean Earnhardt would have stayed #15 all his career?

He would have definitely been better off with RYR, but he would not have won a championship.

He was getting older, when you've driven that long you have to adjust to so many different types of race cars and in the sport to day the driver over forty are haveing a difficult time competeing with Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Matt Kensith.

Between the two, he would definitely had a better chance of having won a championship but I am not saying that he would have actually won one though. That would be kind of hard to decide on.

He had a good Team with RCR but if he stayed he would have been reduced down to 3rd Place by Harvick & Burton anyway. Then replaced by Bowyer. And he wouldnt have won a Championship for RCR!!!!!
