Your problem is that you think that challenging and necessity are mutually exclusive and they are not. Every thing that one deems a necessity is challenging without exception. For instance eating is a necessity to survive, and therefore can become challenging if you want to maintain your weight. In other words use but don’t abuse food. Eat to stay healthy but don’t over eat. This is a challenge and is necessary to maintain, because you want it so, and not because it is easy. So do with effort, and you’ll be happier for it in the long run. Nothing in life is easy, but if you work at it, It may become fun, especially if those around you can’t keep up. You’ll be number one…

When I try to lose weight, i think of everything that i eat and think of how much exercise i have to do for a certain amount of food. For example, i'd like to a piece of chocolate cake, then id tell myself that that piece would take me 1 hour of treadmill. I'd bargain myself if it's really worth the run or would i be able to trade it with something healthier and not run a much, It has worked for me and still keep on doing it. I am not in my ideal weight.

What keeps me going while on my goal, (actually i just posted a question just yesterday about losing weight..lol)
from my past experiences and still today is that, while im working out im actually picturing myself out in the summer and everybody around me and my friends in awe of what i have acomplished. it helps me with my own morale and self encouragement.
also whenever i read or see an article about someone whos lost great amounts of weight and is now looking really good and healthy and fit (through their own efforts and motivation, no diet pills or anything) I cut it out, together with their before and after pics. and post it on my little bulletin board on my door so every morning when I wake up, im reminded of the goal that I set for myself and see other people's successes.
It just gives me a sense of hope that I am looking forward to achieving my goal and feeling what all those other women have accomplished.
Im trying to lose weight around 20-25 pounds. that will bring me to a 105-110 pounds. im short so at my weight right now im actually a little heavy just simply because of my height.
but im working on it! and If i can motivate myself so can you!
try self encouraging and esteem enhancing practices while on your way to weight loss!
goodluck!

You are always going to have times when you flop, the key is to pick back up and keep running the race you started. Never give up, when you fall get up.

Are you trying to change things all at once?
Try making small changes and then going from there. For example, if you love pizza, try making Friday nights your "pizza night." Or if you love soda, try cutting back to one can a day...then one every other day...
Those small changes kept me motivated for quite awhile. Suddenly I realized my vices were no longer part of me because I forgot about "pizza night" or about soda.
Also, not dwelling on mistakes is crucial. If you had some french fries one day, don't dwell on it and just think, "tomorrow is another day." No one is perfect.
Baby steps, baby steps, then giant leaps:)
