Recently my cat Phoebe has been gettting a lot heavier, and fatter around the belly. I know that she has been getting her winter coat and everything but she has really been getting a big bulge around her stomach. She has been spayed for almost 9 years now. She did have some thyroid problems last year, but she has been fine lately. Is there any possiblity she is pregnant? She is an indoor/outdoor cat so who knows what she could be getting into. Please give me your best answer. We are taking her to the vet soon. Thanks!

It sounds like she's just getting her "middle-age" spread. She probably isn't getting enough exercise, and is eating too much. If she had thyroid problems before, you might want your vet to give her a checkup, just to be sure she's really ok. Also, at that age, she should probably have a blood test, just to "rule out" any other possible problems. As cats get older, they can begin to have health issues that don't show up quickly, so it's better to "catch" them early. Hope this helps...Good luck...........

No way she is pregnant if she is spayed.

Take her to the vet and get her thyroid checked again.

Talk to the vet about the best diet plan for her. Most likely she is just eating too much and packing on some winter weight.

Having been spayed 9 years ago, no she is absolutely not pregnant. Good Luck @ the vets hopefully it's just a side effect of old age.

If she has been spayed she is not pregnant.

Is she still taking thyroid medication? If she is getting too much she could be gaining weight. Better have the thyroid levels rechecked.

Um how could she get pregnant if she's spayed? And if you're concerned about her why aren't you getting her to the vet right away instead of "soon"?

8 years is the start of old age for cats she may just be putting on the weight that most people and animals do as they get older.

No possible way that she is pregnant you said she is spayed, well duh she is not pregnant so i would think different type of food and/or exercise her and take her to the vet.

Feeding her only dry food? Stop, as it just puts on weight. She's getting plump.
