What: A 50 50 Raffle. Students Sell Raffle Tickets, Half of the Money Raised Goes to the Fight against AIDS in South Africa; the Prize is the Other Half of the Money Raised.

Where: P School at C School Basket-Ball Game

When: Half-Time Saturday January 19, 2008

Description: There are approximately 900 students at C School, and 1,070 at P School. If each student at both schools sells at least 3 tickets at $1 then we’ll raise $5,910 and $2, 955 for both the winner and the selected Charity for the fight against AIDS.

Better check with your city or county attorney *ASAP* -- raffles that give away money raised are usually ILLEGAL.

Yes, I'm afraid I'd have to agree with the first response, I do believe this type of raffle is illegal, since you are directly profiting from the ticket sales. You might also want to check with your school policy (talk to your principal) because my guess is selling things on school property for profit will also be a violation of policy.
