I think he's a hero for not putting up with rampant crime in his neighborhood and confronting the perps.

but

On the otherhand, he's a complete idiot for not learning Texas laws regarding use-of-force and for thinking he could get away with what unfortunately amounts to cold-blooded murder.

No. He shot those guys as they were attempting to flee the scene. He was not in any danger and the ones he shot did not present a threat to him or his life and limb.
I live in Nevada where we have "open carry" laws and anyone who does not have a felony record or record of mental health hospitalization can have a weapon and strap it on his hip. But, in Nevada Mister Horn would be facing trial for murder because his use of a weapon was not because of an imminent threat to his life or a situation where it was reasonable for him to assume his life was at peril.

Absolutely!! Boom you're dead..it almost brought a tear to my eye. Any good Neighbor should kill anyone that attempts to rob, rape, or otherwise molest another neighbor!! That man needs a medal!
