How many of you actually care one way or another about the Golden Compass?

And do you care enough to want it banned?

Do you just not want your kids to see it?

Would you let them see it if they wanted to?

j foxie: God is not killed. A Satan type angel impersonating God and hurting people is killed, and that's not in this movie, which is based on the 1st book of the trilogy. That part happens in the 3rd.

Care enough to have it banned, no...far as I'm concerned, people can watch whatever they like. Care enough to not want to support the film in any way, yes. I have no intention of forking over any of my hard earned money to see a movie that promotes a set of beliefs so fundamentally opposed to mine.

...and no, I won't allow my six-year-old son to see it even if he wants to...in a few years perhaps, but right now, I believe he isn't mature enough to separate the fantasy from the philosophy. I haven't allowed him to watch any of the Harry Potter movies either for the same reason.

As parents we all choose to censor what our children see and hear and read. Some parents won't allow their children to watch South Park or other "vulgar" shows, others protect their children from vivid news reports of war or other tragedies, others won't allow their children to play violent video games, others hide the truth about drug or alcohol addicted family members, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera! I have a problem with Golden Compass (and Harry Potter, and Zoey 101, and some other shows/movies)...I don't have a problem with my son playing Call of Duty and Splinter Cell games or watching quite a few shows and movies that other parents don't find acceptable (e.g., at four my son's favorite movie was "The Quick and the Dead"...currently I think it is "Volcano" or "The Day After Tomorrow").

My take...to each his own...I'm not going to condemn anyone that wants to watch or let their children watch anything they want! In the grand scope of life, a movie is irrelevant...why should anyone, except the producers, care if I will or will not see the movie?

Frankly, I think this whole controversy is a brilliant marketing scheme...the people protesting about the movie are playing right into the hands of the people that made the film! I have no doubt the movie will succeed at the box office primarily because all this controversy will make people curious about the movie. If you want to get sucked in, feel free...I can't imagine I would have even noticed this movie without all the debate about it!

I am definitely going to go see it. I read the books and even though I don't exactly remember everything, I remember loving them. If you're seriously getting upset over this you need to learn to draw a line between fact and fiction and to teach your kids to do the same if that's what you're seriously worried about. All this just makes me think of the whole Da Vinci Code thing all over. Seriously people, there's a reason you find these books in the fiction section...

I don't care anything for the movie, my family and I will not go to see it. If others quit going to see films like these Hollywood would stop making them. Out there it is all about$$$$$$$

that doesn't bug me at all. i think it's sapose to be an idea created from that, but it's just a movie about magic:]]

just like the movie lion the which and the wardrobe.
the lion was sapose to represent god and the witch satan.
but as long as it comes out as god comquering all, whats the big deal?? i don't see any.

I honestly never heard of it. I am never for banning anything. Especially if it is merely some sort of entertainment. Is it a movie? Video game? Book?

Actually I just love to see the atheists waste their time imaging what theists are plotting?

Sort of like a bunch of kooks in a bomb shelter. Paranoia perhaps?

I care. Movie or not, I do not support the killing of God. It will not be seen by my family.

Golden Compass? I am indifferent to it. But if it turns you on, I bet you can get anything on E-Bay these days.

Do not care, it's only a work of fiction.
