My friend's niece is 15 mos. & calls people "peach", but we know what she's saying. & she calls people "hoes", & she says, "puck". Well, she gets it from her 17-yr. old mom who curses a lot & calls people bitches & hoes but then has nerve enough to punish the baby & spank her & yell at her when she does it.

I also have seen lots of other babies saying curse words as one of their 1st words.

When you say a cuss word you generally put emphasis on it. It is not like every other word you say. You generally say it louder and you say it with more feeling. Babies pick up on it b/c your voice and attitude change when you say it.

Isn't that awful. That 17 year old should not even be able to be around her baby. Of course we know why this baby talks like that - that mom of hers. However many other young kids pick up swear words from parents who do NOT swear that much - I believe it is because we use a different tone of voice when we say bad words because we are either angry or have gotten hurt. The change in the tone of voice really gets a child's attention.

That's disgusting. That GIRL needs to get into parenting classes immediately. She should not be using such trashy language around an innocent child, and then spanking the baby for repeating the words. The child is only doing what she SHOULD be doing - imitating speech. Really, someone should take the child away from the sorry excuse for a mother. Some people just don't deserve to have children.

well, apparently there are few people who will admit they slip up with their kids. well I do, and they know they aren't supposed to say those words, I have had to explain"mommy dropped all the eggs and the word she said must not be repeated" They don't repeat them. but if they did they wouldn't be punished either, I would just remind them not to, I don't think this is the biggest problem people have taking care of kids. I think the bigger problem is spanking a 15 month old for repeating it. I hope everyone will get off their pedestal and realize it's just words, not the biggest blunder a mom could make.

I don't think it's a matter of the parents eeehhm "potty mouths" I think it's how you deal with the children when/if they repeat it. I swear like a pirate as does my mother and my grandmother- we never really didn't swear in front of the kids though we don't swear at them (I don't go for that). None of my kids have ever been cursers though...well, not until they were older ( my 13 year old does on occasion in front of us and I'm sure regularly with his friends) but they never did as young children. On the occassions which they swore, which I can honestly only remember one we just told the child (it was my daughter) that she shouldn't say that particular word because it was a word only mommies and daddies could say and that she would have to wait until she was older to say it. She was about 3 years old at the time. We didn't freak out though, we didn't make a big deal olut of it and punish her or go crazy, nor did we laugh and encourage the behavior. It was no big deal so she never felt the urge to repeat it I guess. My youngest son did go through a phase though when he LOVED dinosaurs but he couldn't pronounce rex so everytime he saw a dinosaur he screamed a word which sounded just like fu*k....Jurasic Park had just come out, yeah that was a great time LOL

i'm afraid, no longer only one observe. He has some words. right here they are. one million. Selector's quandary 2. To be or to no longer be (If Shakespeare have been to be alive immediately, he could have used this right here, in this context, fairly than in Othello) 3. To good to be exceeded over (for determination) 4. Selector has to brave the fee of favouritism if he selects him. 5. England's superb cricketer long previous off beam 6. Is there every person to place him innovations-blowing on course?

I agree they get it from us parents. But is was funny last weekend when we had a friend over. My husband was making my friend a drink when my 4 year old son asked if he could have some. When my husband told him no he was too young to drink that, my son said "the hell with me I will have some Mt. Dew then". I almost peed my pants! But he understands he is not supposed to say bad words. I guess that slipped.

they copy the people that they are around the most so if they are around people that curse a lot then most likely they will start cursing too! try not to make a big deal of it when they curse and it will stop.

B/c they pick up on whatever they hear. They may not hear someone telling them to say mama or dada that often. It's kind of funny at first, but then it gets so not cute for babies to say bad words.

What a shame!
My children did not hear a curse word until they were each about 11, because they heard them at the mall & in various other places.

Parental responsibility is huge! I wish more parents felt the same way & maybe we would not have yet, another mall shooting in NE.
