I'm sure there are some sincere church goers... those that want to fellowship with others and have a loving place to express their beliefs.
But there are also those that go to church so that they can say "i'm a good person... I go to church" or " I'm a deacon in the church" Or " I pay my tithe to the church every week"
The sad, sad truth is that their intention is not to worship or or commune with God.. it's so they can "look good" to everybody around them.
I've seen so many church goers that outside of the Church are not very nice people.

Depends on the Church . Most churches feed the hungry visit the sick and needy. Contribute to the welfare of the poor and the sick.
Some Churches dont. Most churches do they provide the greatest service of all.
THe oppurtunity to serve others. To help others. A very very real endorphin producing process that makes people feel good,
I suppose you will get a bunch of snotty answers from people who think, God is supposed to be SANTA clause, and are pissed that they didnt get what they wanted, when they wanted it. THey miss the point. The point is to serve others.
Not everyone needs a church, or a God to do that .
IT is one possible and rewarding path however.

Fellowship - it is good to have friends that have common beliefs. When you're going through a hard time, the friends from church can give advice that is in line with your own beliefs. They can also call you up when they see you're falling away in certain areas. I want to walk in Jesus' footsteps as best I can, but I'm a flawed human. My church friends are there to remind me when they see me drifting away from where I want to be. I want that kind of help in my life.
Also, the worship times (the singing) is really powerful in a big group. I enjoy the atmosphere when we all sing together.

I think church is a good way to bring people together as a community and to make friends but I think it sucks for religion.

The belief in an all-powerful being(s) that love you eternally and will save your *** if you screw up. Also, a moral code that keeps them in line based on what the religion tells them about rules.

They show off their clothes,
They present their cars to others,
They display their donations before dropping them in the plate,
They feel good about being forgiven for Saturday night!
