I pay more taxes to support not only legal citizens, but also a bunch of refugees, that have no legal right to feed off of our welfare, health or education system.

I have to choose two options "english" or "spanish" when I dial customer service.

I have to suffer lower wages, because some illegal will work for 2 dollars an hour.

I have to listen to self-righteous politically correct malarky. How do you defend illegal aliens (not immigrants, you misused the word), I don't understand this. Only people who defend illegal aliens, are either illegals, or Mexicans / Latinos, too blind by their own racial loyalty to understand that illegal is just that.

You poor people. Don't you realize that you are on the wrong track. The govt. and business owners don't care about U.S. workers having low wages. They care about how much profit they can make off the low paid illegal aliens. The immigration "problem" will never be solved. The immigration issue also gives the politicians a villain to stir up all the voters. I know I wouldn"t want to go to a foreign country: away from my family: living with a bunch of strangers; looking over my shoulder; and doing dangerous jobs for cheap wages.

The effect cuts both ways. I am impacted financially in a positive way and negatively in a moral and ethical way.

I sell business machines. I sell multifunction machines to convenience store that service an immigrant customer base that is legal or not. Every page of data that is exchanged by fax, every page of confirmation of remittance and exchange, every fax request for legal documents and submissions of requests for residency or pleadings that are submitted to immigration courts and attorneys pays me 3 to 5 cents per page. I count up the gross income, deduct the expenses and I pay my taxes to the local, state and federal government.

There are trees that grow up in the utility easement behind my house. A contract crew comes through one a year and cuts the rank growth of limbs and vines away from the wires. The crew is all immigrant. I go out and speak Spanish with them. I am now able to distinguish between the accents that are represented from all the "Latin" American countries. Some speak a very poor Spanish. They are Native Americans from Mexico and Central America. I am sure that the prime contractor has vetted the legal status of the members of the crew . I am just as sure that as many are illegal as are legal. There is no way for me to tell except for the way they answer some of my creative probing questions. The work that the crew does has kept my electric power on through 5 hurricanes and other storms. That effect has been positive.

Some Illegal immigrants in my county pass through the public health system and the emergency rooms of the several hospitals. Some have paid a minimum amount to be seen. Some have not. The hospitals have screened for exotic disease and have found what they were looking for. These are reported on to the proper authorities and the person is, fortunately for all including him (her) self, quarantined and treated. They are then processed further for repatriation to their home provinces. Some hospitals in the west have been over run with illegal immigrants. The Federal Government, who works for us, is now in a states rights mode and it is the pleasure of the Federal Government to say to the states, "It's your problem." Never mind that the job of the FG is to secure the borders, one from the importation of drugs and two illegal immigrants that are needed by various manufacturing and industrial entities to keep costs low. That affects my sense of integrity and moral outrage poorly. Especially when the illegals are rounded up and repatriated and the employing entity gives it a day or two and restaffs with more illegals.

If some illegal is working with papers that include a social security or federal tax number, money is being collected that will never be returned to them. That affects me positively (but with a moral hook) because some of that money is now paying my social security. Many employers collect taxes and FICA fully knowing that they will not submit those monies to the taxing authorities. That affects me again with moral outrage.

This nation in the future will be home and country to those who are having babies. Those babies will then deal with their problems of illegal immigrants.

For 15 years I was worked in a food processing plant. I started as a union employee and I was eventually promoted to Plant Manager.

After 15 years the plant was "sold" under questionable circumstances (I think the same company owned them but wanted to get rid of the union employees).

After the plant sold; all 400 American employees decided in unison that food production was the kind of work that Americans will do. Fortunately there were illegal aliens willing to do that work at half the pay.

I was ready to leave and secured a much better position but a lot of very good people; friends and family lost there jobs.

Ironic thing is that when they hired all illegals they had to hire twice as many people, it seems that illegals are illegal not stupid. They will not work for extremely low wages for a long period of time, therefore they never acquire the experience needed because they move along to greener pastures, as they should. So when they fired all of those employees, they did not save a dime LOL.

Illegal immigration affects EVERYONE by depressing wages throughout the economy. 30 years ago American meat packers made $20 an hour with good benefits. Today, 30 years later, the industry runs on illegal aliens at $8 an hour with few benefits.

Almost EVERY job on a construction site today, except highly skilled trades like electricians, earn a fraction of what they did 30 years ago. In the 1970's guys just starting out could make $15 an hour doing drywall. Today it's a $7 an hour job. Roofers used to make very good money. Today is another $7 or $8 an hour job.

American college students, by the tens of thousands, used to work landscaping during the summer to pay for college. Today it's all illegal aliens making dirt cheap wages.

Well I remember having to buy my brother and his wife some small applicances because they couldnt afford them when he was in school and she was trying to get a part time job and was turned down several times because she didnt speak spanish. This was a job at hotels in Vegas. Seems most of the employ in the maintenance and cleaning didnt really speak english.

One of my friends just about went bankrupt with his landscaping business because he only hired legal people, he is bonded and insured and he kept getting underbid on jobs by landscapers who would hire illegals. Finally he started getting jobs back from the ones he lost though because the others werent insured/bonded and when one of their workers would for instance break someones sprinkling system the companies wouldnt pay for it and my buddy started getting the business back.

I have lots of stories that were me or people close to me.

As a citizen, a voter and a taxpayer, I have the right to participate in the making of laws for this country, and a right to expect my government to enforce those laws. I have a right to expect everyone who is in my country to obey those laws, and to demand that those laws be followed. I don't own this country, but I am a bona fide member of the population, and I want our laws respected by everyone else who is here.

A landscaper went out of business because he couldn't afford to compete with other landscapers that hire illegals. He was a relative.
