Among non-Mormons, 62 percent think Mormonism is very different from their own religion, according to polling this summer by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center and Pew Forum. Some 53 percent said they had a favorable view of Mormons, compared with 76 percent who had favorable feelings toward Jews and Catholics, 60 percent for evangelical Christians, 43 percent for Muslims and 35 percent for atheists.

what is wrong with that paragraph?

What is wrong, is that Christians would prefer someone who believed in something that is completely false (Mormonism) than someone who rejected that false belief (atheism).

Does this make any sense to anyone. Essentially, what this poll says is that as long as you believe in something (anything!!!!), even if it is untrue, that is preferable to NOT believing in that specific thing.

When will Christians get the fact that we (atheists) AGREE with them about all those other religions! They are false and man-made belief systems - WE AGREE. The only disagreement we have is over the divinity of Jesus, something all those other religions believe anyway.

Sometimes I wonder if Christians logically think through the implications of not liking atheists. First, they are atheists themselves with respect to all other gods except their own. Second, we agree completely with them on every other religion. As Russell said, the only difference between and Christian and an atheist is that an atheist believes in one less god than a Christian.

This same poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that Mormons are Christians. I thought that was very interesting!

Seems a lot of the anti-Mormons who post here on Yahoo! Answers are out of touch with mainstream American thought...

"76 percent had favorable feelings toward Jews and Catholics", why were the two religions grouped together?
