From all i've read up on it seems my bro is schitzophrenic(or something similar) And he has slowly lost contsct with my familiy. He wont respond to calls or emails, and i dont know how to approach him, either on a normal level or trying to get him to see his behaviour isnt normal and he should seek help. Ant suggestions?

I'm assuming you are seeing other problems in your brother than just not keeping in contact. Diagnosis by self or another is usually wrong but one can notice the warning symptoms if they know them.
Go to the 'DSM-IV TR' ( the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders of the American Psychiatric Association) referable by typing the letters in quotes above into Yahoo! web search. THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCHIZOPHRENIA BUT THIS IS THE BOOK USED BY PSYCHIATRISTS TO DIAGNOSE MENTAL DISORDERS. Note the symptoms and their needed duration well.
If he seems to fit bring it to his attention in a kindly manner but there is not much you can do if he is unresponsive to get him help unless he is a danger to himself and others.

Not responding to calls or emails is not necessarily a sign of schizophrenia. He may be very busy, and perhaps feel down or have something to hide for now, but the information you provided is insufficient to conclude that he has that kind of illness. Your own expectations may also have something to do with the problem. Maybe he just needs more time for himself and has a type of personality that needs loneliness, whereas you want him to talk and meet more people.
