I would like to see how many different ways 'love' is defined by people, and if you know how to say "I love you" in a different language please list it ...
Example: in swahili they say- Nina penda wee wee....
and just for the record ,I think 'love is sacrifice'....

Wow now this is a subject that has baffled people and destroyed aswell as saved lives sinced the beginning of time. Thank you once again for another intriguing question leahluv721.... have you ever heard that you should be on t.v.?
Anyways the definition of love can certainly not be summed up in a word or even a few sentences. I agree with many answers for example .... Love is sacrifice.... you sacrifice your time throughout your day during work and even during free time just to call and say i love you ... or let them know you are thinking about them... I know a friend that didnt eat breakfast or lunch all week so he could save his money and send the woman he cant live without, cant get of his mind, would seriously do anything for, flowers...... To some this may be cheesy but when you love someone you sacrifice many various things throughout your day whether it be time, money, old friends, sometimes even your own happiness. Love is when you cannot make it through your day without hearing that special someone's voice.... You cant sleep at night when you are apart. You lose track of the many times you think about him or her during the day. Everything you do in every aspect is centered around the well being of your loved one. From fixing you hair and putting makeup on to look nice for your man, Or surprising your woman with her favorite ice cream that she loves from a certain gas station, To changing every aspect of your life to make her or him feel more comfortable. Love is both parties giving 100% its not 50/50. Love is when your walking through the mall and out of all the people in the mall you can pick your loves perfume or cologne out of the crowd....Love is the butterflies you get evertime you look into those beautiful eyes that you love and adore so much....Love is the hope you have to never give up or back down from from anyone or anything that comes between you and your girls future..... Love is when you're more worried about you partners happiness then your own..... Love is when you dont have the need to buy anything for yourself because you want to spend all of your money on her..... You know your in love when you are completely fulfilled by him or her your not left in want or need for anything...... Love is when your 236 miles apart but you can still feel her heart beating and you can still remember the way her lips taste....Love is when you would do anything just for a glimpse of her ..... Love is when she is no.1 on your priority list..... Love is knowing everything about your partner and knowing when they are in need without them having to tell you whats wrong....Love is true.... Love can conquer and overcome anything no matter how big or small.....Love has the ability to never stop growing, its waking up 10 or 20 years from now and realizing when you rollover and look at her that you love her more today ...that very second than you ever did before...Love can drive one to their grave and can give someone the will to live....Love is when your away from her and you dont know how you made it through the day without her, you dont even know how you can walk and talk at the same time because without her your worthless.... You know your in love when you look into her eyes and for the first time in your life everything becomes clear.... when you used to be directionless she lights the path to your future. Love is when your goals and dreams are mutual....Love is sharing EVERYTHING not leaving anything out or having any secrets...Love is trustworthy... Love is dependable.... Its true love when she is not only your partner but your best friend.... a friend like you have never known before.... sometimes people cant even fathom this kinda of friendship until they have experienced it ... because you know no matter what lies ahead they will be there right beside of you cheering you on and picking you up to put the pieces back together time and time again no matter whether you are right or wrong they are on your side.,..Love gives people the ability to make a beautiful painting or write a breathtaking poem....Love is when your laying beside her and she down and depressed and you sing her to sleep.... Love is wonderful..... Love is blind... Love is when she wakes up in the morning and when you look over at her bedhead she makes your heart skip a beat.... Love is kissing her when you have morning breath and you dont even care if her breath smells ...lol .... Love is kissing her when she is sick...Love is making heart shaped pancakes for her in the morning..... Love is cleaning the house for her so she can sleep in on the weekends..... Love is not being able to imagine your life without her. The list can keep running on and on but im rning outta time im sorry

I don't agree with that chemical reaction concept. I have felt feelings for a lot longer than a few months and when I heard that idea first they said it last for at the most three years and I have felt those feelings for a lot longer than that. I think that the thing that they think is love that they are testing is not and that people that think that haven't loved anyone.
Also I know someone whose heart beat faster whenever he heard the persons name that he loved for his whole life, those feelings never stopped or even subsided he told me if anything they became stronger. People cannot understand love unless they have known it, some of you obviously have not.
Love also makes you care for someone more than yourself and makes you unselfish and caring. It is a good thing to experience because of this and makes you a different better person.
Love isn't based on physical attraction it is an attraction to the soul. It is not based on fertility either (for example you don't stop finding someone attractive if they are infertile and also gay people cannot have children and they obviously have an attraction for each other) so saying it is a evolutionary creation to protect a pregnant women is unfounded.

When u want 2 love yourself more u’ll find some one to love, what u really do is make love 2 your self more & more. Love begins inside u, & u makes love to the image of other person that exists inside your mind & the real other person helps u to keep that image. Love - To feel that you would do anything for a certain person, even if it involves you being harmed.
Not too much love out there...People just get a bunch of beer and think it's love but it really isn't, not even close!

To me love is about two people doing things for one another and not always putting themselves first.It is about unconditional love,trusting in each other and definite compromise too.Nothing beats being married to someone for almost 5 years and you still get butterflies that's love:)

Love by my definition is when someone does someone for you even when you reject them. Ex when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He loves each and every one of us so much he will forgive our sins only if we ask him into our heart. He died for everyone even the people that reject him. He made the greatest sacrifice of all and I think that is what love is all about.
