There are also books and websites that tell of the origin of surnames in general; they give the origin and meaning of many common surnames. I.e., "Cooper", one who made barrels.

You can also Google three words:
Surname meaning Smith

"Surname" is a fancy name for last name. Use your name, not "Smith".
