NASCAR Mechanics race?

Question

I race go carts and we have mechanic race were the mechanics race in the drivers kart they should do this in NASCAR becuase it gives the mechanics some glory...... in the winter at a track like atlant or taladega or something then like tire changers race tirechangers one race weekend catch can race catch can man next week and the drivers have to fill in the missing position.

Actually the crew chiefs do have a race if they want to participate, it is at the All Star race weekend. They race the modified series on the infield track. Im not sure but i think last year was the first year this happened but I believe it will happen this coming year too. It was really cool but certain crew chiefs could not participate because of suspension. Which sucked cause I was wonderin if Tony Jr. could drive.

No, I think it's a bad idea. One race a year is good enough, and the crew chiefs already have one.
To put it in perspective would you like to see baseball catchers pitch while the pitchers play outfield, short stops coaching, and managers on first. I had to resist a who's on first joke there ;-p
I could have used any sport, but the fact is the same, not many people are gonna want to see a racing series of people doing things they are not good at.

Actually this has been done.
Dale Earnhardt rewarded his crew cheif Kirk Shelmerdin the chance to drive his Busch car after a very succesful season,Earnhardt also did this for Any Petree.
But this would be a good idea to see again.

It would be a great idea but if Nascar wont sanction something like this the Sponsors and owners wont put up the Money for an exhibition race session like this!!!!!
