Your best bet would be to contact some of the local chapters that help with cancer. Even though it may not be the type of cancer your mother has, they will know of possible places to get help. I'd start with the American Cancer Society. Also, since I don't know where you live, I've pulled some links for places all over the United States that might be able to help and those are listed below:

Your local churches might also be able to help in finding your dad a job what will work around his schedule of taking your mom to and from her appointments.

Please, the one thing I can't stress the most, is not to be too proud to ask for help when things like this strike. My daughter had leukemia and I was a single mother of 3...10, 8, and 6. I learned a lot about life and what you have to do in order to survive and take care of a sick loved one. You WILL need help during this time, so please take advantage of every bit you can get.

God bless your family, I will hold you in my prayers.

If you are in the United States, check into Medicaid. It depends on the family income and assets. It could help if you qualify. She might be eligible for SSI.
