I don't know how to tell these people that I am not interested in their parties, social gatherings. I have friends of my own that I feel comfortable around and that I hang out with. They think that my life revolves around them. If I a not interested they think I am being a *****, or think that I am better, or they turn the situation around saying that I am no good for their group. They find it offensive. I don't know what to do or say. We just don't share the same interests. It's been a long time and there is still conflict between me and these people. Even when I say that I am here for my education, they say that I am anti social and they end up spreading rumors about me. How can I say that they are not my crowd in a nice way. How can I distract them. I'd like it if all of us got along, but we are just different.

What I don't understand is why you are worried about what this group of people think of you if you aren't interested in spending time with them. Spend time with those that you want to. Rumors are rumors. Big deal. They are trying to intimidate you into complying with what they want. You need to decide if you are going to stand up and be yourself or allow yourself to be what others think you should be. Your friends know who you are. That's all that counts.

The next time the invite you somewhere, act excited but then say " oh wait I forgot, I have another engagement for that day" After a while, they should get the hint.
And if it doesnt work, tell them the truth. Say something like, I like my personal life the way it is. It may hurt them, but you were being polite in the beginning and they were rude.

Just tell them you have other things to tend to, your education and they can say what they want. Tell them you think their a nice group but just avoid invites the best way possible. Just ignore them. If you comment or give them something to talk about, seems they will/do. Avoid them as much as possible

Simply that! Tell them your interests don't match and that it has nothing to do with them personally. It's ok to be different! It doesn't mean that it is a good or a bad thing! Good luck! Things always have a way of working themselves out.

"Thanks for the invitation. I hope you have a great time."
Just turn down whatever invitations you receive. There is no need to give an explanation or tell the people you don't like them.

Unless you are being held hostage by these people, just avoid them. Easy enough.
