I have read quite often here in the Word where we say that as christians we can loose our eternal salvation. I want us to address this matter.
Each person posting in response to this crucial no nonesense matter MUST provide some valuable balanced scriptures to support their claim for or against this question.

Thank you so much for taking the time to put forward an answer to this question.
In Christ

Ephesians 1:22-23 - " And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." If a Christian could lose their salvation, then Christ's body would be less than complete. It would be scarred or disfigured.

Colossians 2:9-10 - "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power." In both His earthly and resurrection bodies, Jesus Christ was and is fully God. The perfection of divine essence, or nature, has always been in Him. So it is with the believer. They have reached a state of completion, or perfection, in their position in Christ that cannot be more acceptable than they are right now. They did not reach this state of completion by good works, but have been made complete by God.

Hebrews 7:25 - "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." Christ is able to save completely all who come to God through Him. Since He will live forever, He will always be there to remind God that he has paid for our sins with His blood.

1 John 5:11-13 - "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life: and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

The thief on the cross had absolutely nothing to show for his life, no good works, and no chance to do any. He simply confessed that he deserved to die, and that Jesus did not deserve to die. As he hung there on the cross next to Jesus, the thief could read the sign which hung above Jesus' head proclaiming Him to be the King of the Jews. The thief believed that Jesus, after He died was going to inherit a kingdom, and the thief asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His Kingdom. This, to me, is the heart of salvation - repentance and confession. Christ's shed blood was sufficient to forgive the thief of his sins and guarantee his salvation, and His shed blood is sufficient to do the same for us.

I would like to end by saying that if there was something more that a person had to do to have assurance of salvation, then that would mean that Christ's atoning work on the cross was incomplete, and that's just not true.

1 Peter 3:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

God bless you sister, great question!

Hi Sandy,
This is what I believe, If a person has been truly changed by the work Christ did on the cross. And if that person has had the life altering change made in their lives. And if they have been given perseverance, understood Gods glory and seen that. Felt him in their life, known that it is all of him and none of them. Desire from down deep in their spirit, to be a profitable servant. I do not believe that person will turn back into the world. On the other hand we have all seen people who have an emotional experience, or come to Christ in hopes of getting out of trouble. Or to get their lives back on track. But came without the wooing of the Holy Spirit. I think this person will find something wrong before long and turn back to the old way of life. It all goes back to the parable of the sower. Which type of ground are the people who turn back, were they truly wrought on by the Holy Spirit of God through the process of conviction, I think that is where the difference is. To come to a revealed Christ, you must have revelation. Where do we get that, the gift of Grace, and the Mercy God sheds forth to those he has chosen.

In Rev 3:4-12 we are told that a person's name will be blotted out of the Book of Life if a person doesn't remain faithful to God. That is referring to those who have never accepted Jesus as their Savior and followed His word and it also applies to those who have accepted Him and then fallen away.

Matt 7:13-14 tells us that the path to destruction is wide so even though many think they are saved, if they continue to sin wilfully and follow satan, they will be on that broad path with all the unbelievers.

Gal 5:4 tells us that many have become estrange and have FALLEN from GRACE. Grace is offered to all of us but it won't be given to all if they fall short of God's glory and don't do His will every day.

Also, Heb 6:6 tells us that if someone has fallen away, we are to work to restore them back to the faith. What would be the purpose of restoring them if they are saved regardless of their errant ways?

I always wonder why people want to take some of the Bible and use it as their guide but then turn around and ignore the rest of it. The New Testament has many steps to salvation and we can't just pick and choose what we want and say we are saved. Beware of the devil who is leading many of you down the wrong path and having you believe you are saved regardless of how you live.

And our purpose as Christians isn't just to pray and study the Word and try to live a faithful life....it doesn't end there. Our purpose is to do all that plus take the Word to others so they can learn what they have to do to save their souls. Mk 16:15-16 tells us to go into ALL the world and preach the gospel to every creature. I have yet to see anyone else say that in the questions/answers I have read on here (I'm sure someone has but I've not seen it in 8 months I've been here).

Thanks for another interesting question Sandy :) Good food for thought.

God bless

Wow...this is quite the controversial question..and evidence for both sides can be shown in the bible..

My personal opinion is that You cannot Lose a real salvation..but you probably can Lose a false one.

They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (false salvation)

The fact that a person can fall away is evident here:

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Although I believe in the security of my salvation, I do not for one minute that I could (nor would I want to) live just "any old way"
and maintain the relationship with the Lord I have now. I believe that you can reject your salvation, just as you receive it. (God forbid)..but it's possible.

Dear Sandy ,
The christian life begins when we accept Christ as our life and we become children of God(Jn. 1:12-13), once we become children of God, it is impossible to stop being sons. It is like you, you were born of your parents, therefore you will be their child forever. Even if you misbehave you still have their life. That is the same case with God, once you have His life you will never lose it. But there is a problem, this is that if you misbahave then God is going to punish you.
God's full salvation begins in our spirit, goes on to our soul and finishes in our body. What a salvation!!

Sandy,
If someone who is saved suddenly decided that they no longer wanted anything to do with God for whatever reason then why would God force them to spend eternity with him. I think the parable of the Sower sheds enough light on this subject for us to see that not all who believe end up following though with working out their salvation. We see many Atheist on here who proclaim that they were once Christians and then decided not to believe anymore. Now they not only don't believe but discourage others from doing so. They in essence has become enemies of the cross. Since mankind is given a freewill we can use it to either believe unto salvation or deny, at any time, the gift that God so freely offers.

Jesus said: He is the way to the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. For grace we are saved through Faith, because all has sinned and fell short of the glory of Father God in Heaven, but it would be sad if all this time, Christians beleave on the name of Jesus Christ and what he chose to Die for in reminding us and Teaching us the word of our Father in Heaven and the way we should live our lives and treat each other, It would be extremely stupid for one to sell out to the Devil and loose their Salvation, in return
for sin, what I mean is a trade for the riches of the world which Father God in Heaven said don't be of this world because he ios not from here, Jesus is not from here then neither are We from here. And it don't have to be the riches of the world just sell out period, We must hold on to our faith, it's not our works that get us into Heaven or be approved to be with Father God in Heaven in eternal life with him, It's our Faith and Faith only.

In Closing: Salvation is worth more than Silver and Gold, and all that the world have to offer. Remember the message I sent too you, God said if we have a Mustard seed of Faith, So Satan had to create a Mustard seed of Doubt.

And I agree, you people just getting your two cents in and don't know what the hell your talking about, need to stay out of Grown Adults Conversations, You actually show how stupid you are, and how in-mature you think and act. If you
are going to Hang with the Big Christians the Serious People
then you need to know the Word of Father God in Heaven. And remember God is keeping tabs on your dumb stupid remarks.

Your Brother in Christ: To Sandy:Hope this do you some good write me back and let me know.
Douglas.

To loose our salvation, we would have to be "unregenterated, unjustified, unglorified, and unsealed". God does not lie!!
Once a person is saved are they always saved? When people come to know Christ as their Savior, they are brought into a relationship with God that guarantees their salvation as eternally secure. Numerous passages of Scripture declare this fact. Romans 8:30 declares, "And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." This verse tells us that from the moment God chooses us, it is as if we are glorified in His presence in heaven. There is nothing that can prevent a believer from one day being glorified because God has already purposed it in heaven. Once a person is justified, his salvation is guaranteed - he is as secure as if he is already glorified in heaven.
Blessings
Kait
