i recommend seeing a psychiatrist and getting their opinion.. and talk therapy is very beneficial.. the best thing about a therapist is that they don't know you.. therefore they don't have any personal opinions towards you.. so you get honest, unbiased help.. it sucks there are waiting lists though.. in the meantime..

the best depression/anxiety reliever i can recommend is exercise.. it takes your focus off what's bothering you and hey it's just good in general.. exercise also releases serotonin, dopamine and a few other nuerotransmitters in your brain.. serotonin helps you sleep and dopamine is related to pleasure and happiness.. those chemicals i just mentioned are the ones that your brain lacks when depressed.. exercise helps to balance them.. this has been clinically proven to work faster and longer than medication.. simply taking a twenty minute walk each day could really help..

exercise also releases endorphins.. the body's natural pain killers.. this is related to "runner's high"..

other than exercise you could try deep breathing, muscle relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, listening to music, writing in a journal, or talking to a friend about it.. i also drink ungodly amounts of tea.. haha..

do something you like.. or find new things to try.. pick up a new hobby.. you'll have something to be motivated to do and be excited about..

get a good social support network.. talk to someone you trust about how you feel and what's bothering you..

take time out for yourself each day.. to just reflect, relax, and settle your thoughts.. do things that relax you and that you enjoy..

when you feel yourself getting anxious or sad just stop and concentrate on your breathing.. keep a steady inhale and exhale until you feel your heart rate slowing a bit.. this also helps with insomnia if you have trouble sleeping..

warm milk also helps to produce serotonin.. so maybe drinking a glass before you go to sleep may help..

try to get at least an hour of sunlight each day.. this also helps to balance your brain chemistry and produces serotonin..

eat a healthy diet.. and drink lots of water..

get a pet.. you'd be amazed how much better a pet can make you feel.. they give you something to take are of.. without you they can't survive.. so you have a purpose and a companion..

if you ever need anyone to talk to feel free to message me.. you can message me through my profile.. i'm almost always online unless i'm in class and i promise to get back to you as soon as possible if i'm not on to receive the message..

i really hope this helps.. and best of luck..

Because you've had a lot of struggles why not spend you're life heping other people just like you or worse if you really wanna go put yourself in risky scenarios like helping others in need atleast you could save them when no one coukd save you! You are bright smart beautiful intelligent all you lack is self asteem and confidence to realize who can beat the traumatic monsters that still run in you're mind those memories aren't you they do become a part of you but please don't let it swallow you're very existance you are not them don't give them the satisfaction be what and who you want as long as you breath there is always time for change once you're dead in a grave what would be left to say nothing donT be afraid of life and take a detour way out just because feel overwhelmed by these douche bag opinions of dumb girl aunts and family you're not a ***** be the kind smart girl you know you are not them

These are all great answers. Try to get a lot of exercise, that will help your body produce endorphins, which will help elevate your mood.

Get involved with a charity or a soup kitchen. No matter how bad things seem, someone else has it worse.

Create a gratitude list. Every day list the things that you are grateful to have in your life. It will change from day to day.

Create a mantra for yourself. Something as simple as "I am OK" said over and over will help set the expectation that you really are OK.

Recognize the fact you are not alone in feeling this way and that it won't last forever. This is a difficult time of year for many people, with the holidays and the pressure they bring and the short daylight hours.

One, the best one, Find the Lord, go to a church and talk to the man of the cloth. If you refuse to do that, then read the bible, the psalms are great and there are others. Call a hot line for people who need to talk. Look in your phone book, they have help lines for people who are in mental anguish. Keep the appointment you made or make them if you didn't and keep them. It takes a while to get the ball rolling, but don't give up, you have taken the first step. Things happen they just don't happen pronto. You will get better, value yourself, pamper yourself. Most of all know that you are always loved. Gl and GB

If racer 51's advice dont work why dont you try and hang out with someone who cares about you. Tell them you feel depressed and want to just go relax and talk about your problems. If you still cant, go to a bookstore and just read. Get lost in books. That's how i escape. There are millions of interesting books just waiting for you. Good luck! =]

If you carry on like this your will slowly go mad "those who the Gods would destroy they first send mad"; your body will cease functioning properly but if you are lucky you will die soon...

Try alcoholics and /or narcotics anonymous.
