I am a hairdresser and have been one for over 20 years. So yes you can have your hair chemically straightened. What it does is break down the bonds in your hair and reforms them into straight hair. Like a perm makes your hair curly a straightener makes your hair well straight.

It will last until you cut it out but as your roots grow in they will be curly so you will have to have the roots touched up to keep them straight and you cannot perm over a straightener.

Some of these cost I have seen on here are way to high check around you can find it a whole lot cheaper if you shop around but you want somebody who knows what they are doing but don't fall for the gimmicks. Good luck gurl

Yep. It relaxes your hair, it will stay like that until it starts to grow out. I get mine done about once a year and I go to a salon. It's pretty expensive, it can range up to $400 and maybe higher. If you go to a beaty college or school it will be much cheaper. Maybe $50-70

Good luck!

Have you ever heard of the Japanese straightening technique. It makes your hair look like that beautiful straight Japanese hair. It costs alot of money but it lasts until your hair grows out. I have seen it done and it just looks amazing. Not to be confused with the Brazilian straighteners which use formaldehyde.
