Yes, I would assume so. There both oils, right? As long as you have some sort of oil in mixture, you should be good. I don't even use oil in my cake batter, I use margerine which can be a substiute for oil. If your worried about how your cake will turn out with extra virgin olive oil, why don't you try looking for another recipe, which calls for what you have?
But you know what, I think it will be okay. Extra virgin olive oil and olive oil are the same thing, i think!
Goodluck with your cake, hope it turns out yummy!=)

I have never seen a cake call for Olive Oil.
Are you certain you'rre reading it right?
Id say do not put olive oil in a cake. It has the flavor of olives.

If that's an exceptionally gentle tasting olive oil, it may probable be ok. using your crisco is a extra secure wager. The cake would be somewhat denser/heavier if served at room temperature or chilled. Any probability you may borrow some veg oil from a delightful neighbor?

Certainly, EVOO is just at type of olive oil. If you're comfortable with baking, you can also substitute other types of oils for olive oil (ie. peanut oil, etc.). Use the same proportions.

Sure, it won't make any difference. You could actually substitute any type of oil. It won't change the chemical reaction when you bake it, it just may change the flavor slightly. Not enough that anyone would even notice.

Yes, and since it is a better quality, it should actually improve the flavor and the texture of the cake.
