A friend of mine is having trouble finding a woman, hes a great guy and a whiz at computers, he works with computers, spends allot of time on computers and knows exactly how they work.

He says that the reason he cant get a girlfriend is because he is so good with computers. He told me that as soon as he tells a Woman what he does for a living they instantly look disgusted or uninterested as if working with computers is a complete turn off.

I find this hard to believe, but is it true ladies?

No it's not true that a guy is unattractive because he is good with computers. If he spends ALL his time looking at the computer screen to the extent where he can't actually turn his face away long enough for a conversation (e.g. my current boyfriend *cry*) then that's going to cause some problems. Computing isnt' exactly a sociable interest, and perhaps that's having an impact on his luck with the girls. Any girl that looks disgusted at a guy for working with computers isn't looking for a boyfriend, she's looking for a platinum credit card.

i wouldn't say it true at all, but then again many women find different things attractive in men, some women may find extremely attractive. If the woman that are not showing their interests due to your work and talents with computers then they are the wrong woman anyway. Firstly, the woman you want to spend time with shouldn't care about your occupation and secondly they should share your interests or at least pretend to (this is to your friend by the way) I think certain things will make yourself seem less attractive but i dont think an ability to control computers is one, unless you fulfill the stereotypical 'geek' character, in which you should find a woman who appreciates you for who you are good luck!

I dont think that's the problem. Depends on how your friend is...if when talking to a woman all he talks about computer then she'll walk away. Same goes about anything. And if he spends so much time dealing with computer that he barely has time to go out, then thats another reason. But being a computer whiz does not makes him unattractive.

For some it might but mostly I'd say no its not. It may turn them off only because working with computers takes a lot of time from you and your personal life and they want to be with you a lot. Thats really the only reason I see why they'd be uninterested otherwise its just something they do it doesn't make anyone less because they like computers.Or she's a total *****.

While not a girl, I can probably offer you a bit of insight on this one.

It's not so much that girls hate guys who are good with computers. It's that they dislike the way guys who are good with computers generally are. For the most part, guys like that lake social grace, are focused heavily on computer games, and aren't interested in going out often(speaking in terms of the general perspective).

It's like if I said a guy was a car mechanic. You would instantly put together a certain image in your head of what that guy would be like. Well girls do this with people who are good with computers as well in terms of personality and behavior.

You friend just needs to avoid emphasizing just how much he knows about computers(less technical details are better) and make sure they see him for who he really is.

No, not unless he acts like one of those guys you see on tv...ie uses tons of mumbo jumbo that many of us either do not understand or don't care about. As long as I'm able to have a great conversation with a guy it doesn't matter that he's a computer whiz. In fact it would probably be a plus cause I can't ever figure out how to fix my computer!

It is when somebody is obsessed with them. My Significant Other comes to my home, allegedly to visit with me and then spends most of His time on my computer chatting with others, including other women. How do you think I feel when I'm sitting here waiting to get some attention from Him?

At those times I hate this computer. I've thought about doing it to Him for revenge but I haven't got a clue how to stay on a computer 12-14 hours at a stretch!!! LOL.

Most likely the computer explanation is not the real reason. If this guy was nice, funny, good looking, with an active social life, but worked on computers as a profession, I think he would have no problem finding quality women.

If he is like most computer junkies, such as myself, he probably lets himself go, and has poor social skills.

Problem solved.

no. i am a 16 year old girl who is in love with computers. i know how they work, what to do to fix them, the whole nine yards. the guys i like and hang out with are all computer nerds. they are amazing guys, and i even dated one. even though i am a computer person too, my friends, who are computer illiterate, find guys who love computers really hot. what he said is not true, only shallow women are turned off by this. any woman that turned him down for being into computers isnt worth his time, so he should consider himself lucky he isnt with these shallow women. he will find someone who likes him for him =]

No that's not true at all. He's not finding the right women then. Just tell him to look for women who have the same interests as him. I like nerds and dudes who work on computers.
