Timely question. Just this evening (during our Bible study group) our priest told us flat-out "I forget 'em all as soon as I walk out of the confessional."

I'm sure they don't. They are supposed to listen to the penitent and afterwards, try to help with encouragement and guidance.

If they were "tallying" they couldn't be helping in this way.

I have been to confession many times in my life, and have always found the experience like talking to the kindest, gentlest father who says "it's not so bad, my dear. Just try to do better next time."

no, Christ forgets about our past sins everytime we go to confession! God bless.

i doubt it.

i don't think they would, considering they're sworn to secrecy and i heard that they forget what's confessed.
