Iam thinking about getting a PS3 the 399$ to watch blue ray movies and regular dvd movies. I really don't play much video games but every once and a while i do plus i like resident evil and its coming up next year for PS3 i guess.
DO YOU THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA?
And do i need to buy the air fan if i want to watch just a movie or just play for an hour or so ? And do i need to buy anything else?

I play my ps3 for hours.. Like 7 straight and I don't use an air fan :P

Yeah, I think that it would be a good idea to get the 40GB PS3 that costs $399.
The PS3 isn't like the Xbox 360, so you can play DVD's and video games for hours or even all night long and it will never overheat. You don't need to buy a intercooler or any type of fan. The PS3 is very reliable, just make sure that the PS3 is out in the open and not closed up in a tiny space and the PS3 will be fine.

DO NOT BUY one of those inner-coolers, they are not needed in the PS3. The PS3 is a very good upscaling DVD player as well as a fine Blu-Ray player. I'd say get one, the $399 version is fine for what you want it for.
Two things you might want to purchase, the first is the blu-ray remote control, gives all the functions of the remote control for a stand alone blu-ray player.
The other thing you may want to consider is an HDMI cable to connect it to your HDTV.
If you do not have a 1080p TV then you can get buy with component cables, neither however, are included in the box.

Yea because the PS3 is the cheapest blueray player on the block right now and no need to buy a fan the PS3's built in fans keep the system cool enough most of the time those add on fans just waiste more energy and makes the system even hotter from having to power a intercooler.

If you have an HDTV this is a very good idea. No you don't need the fan but you should get an HDMI cord if your tv has the port.

if its just movies there are cheeper straight blue-ray player in argos
you never know alot of horror puzzle games are set to be relased in the new year

Good idea, I would suggest buying an HDMI cable but DO NOT BUY THE INTERCOOLER its loud and unnecessary.
