My friend (a guy) moved to New York from Jamaica and when he left two years ago he had a girlfriend. He is living here permanantly and they are still together but he doesn't seem as willing to continue the relationship as much as she is but his mom tells him repeatedly not to hurt her. She wants to come to New York but I'm not sure what the problem is. Do you guys think that will last?

Well long distance relationships take two people, its a lot of hard work. I've been in one for 4 years now and i know that it gets really hard sometimes. My bf lives in Germany and i live in US. After one year we were fighting and less willing to talk and we almost broke up the main reason was communication, we kept talking about the same thing over and over again and it was getting so routine that it was almost (sorry baby) boring. We figured out the problem and fixed it, and now we are stronger and happier than ever. So it depends on the people involved, if your friend doesn't want to be in the relationship then it is better for him to be honest than to stay with her and not really want to. I'm sure she knows that something is wrong and is worried, he needs to end her worrying and tell her the truth. Maybe webcams would be a good idea so they can see eachother online. It takes a lot of communication, trust and honesty so if both aren't doing that then there are going to be problems. Tell your friend or you to email me if you have more questions i'll be more than happy to help. Good luck to him :)

i ended my long distance relationship last week, to be honest, unless you really really love that person and think is worth spending lifetime with, long distance relationships generally are difficult, and usually it's the guy who wants to discontinue it.
