We dated for 3-4 years and he was my first love. She's still in love with her ex. But she and my ex are best friends. The reason it upsets me so much is because she was with him when we were first getting together, and yes he did choose me but it was always a hard thing to deal with because they were so close, and she always told me stories about them sharing a bed etc that made me feel jealous or uncomfortable.

She asked me 2 weeks after we broke up earlier this year how I'd feel if she was with him, and I told her she had a right to do it but I didn't think our friendship would survive it. I just found out they slept together over a month ago and nothing more is apparently going to happen, and I have a new boyfriend so perhaps I shouldn't care, but I feel very betrayed by her. Is this feeling unjustified?
I want to move away from the friendship but I'm worried people will think I'm being unreasonable or immature? What do you think?

You gave her permission to be with him and he's your ex so yes, I think you're being selfish and unreasonable.

Honey, move away from the so-called "girl friend" !!!!!!!!!!!!

She seems to enjoy "sticking" it to you, for some reason, by revealing far too much information. I too, would feel betrayed on several levels. She is NOT a friend - in fact, I would desperately wish to keep her FROM the NEW boyfriend, were I you!

Forget about what people "think" - you need to take care of YOU - and if that is what it takes, then perhaps you need to distance yourself from her and its no one else's business why, is it?

Sincerely,

Grace

PS Been right where you are with a so-called girlfriend - yeah, we were estranged 10 years because of it...Thankfully, when we reunited as friends, it became, a REAL, genuine, honest to goodness friendship!

Don't worry about what people think, you have a right to feel how you feel. Your friend betrayed you. Next time don't be so truthful with your friends.
