Can we heal people like Jesus did?

He said we would be able to do it and do more then that. Why do you think we can or can't do it?

I do appreciate your answers - but Jesus said it could be done and that more would be done then what He did.

Oh Yes, most definitely ! Halleluiah !!!
There are some miracles going around now, but, not like the Lord WANTS !!! People are too complacent ! Unconcerned ! No compassion ! Not willing to sacrifice in fasting and prayer !

Taking Command
Matthew 17:14-21

And when they were come to the multitude, there came to Him a certain man, kneeling down to Him and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son : for he is a lunatick, and sore vexed : for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water, and I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you ? How long shall I suffer you ? Bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil ; and he departed out of him : and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out And Jesus said unto them : Because of your unbelief : for verily I say unto you , If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove ; and NOTHING shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit, this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Now let's look at this carefully : First, the disciples had been going around casting out devils. They hadn't had a problem . All of a sudden, they run into an obstacle of faith. A STRONGMAN ! Even with more than one disciple, together, they couldn't do anything with this problem.
Looking at the prayer life, and fasting life of Jesus, we see that He was ALWAYS prepared to come against the principalities, powers, and evils of the spiritual realm. So when He confronted this Powerful principality (mountain ), He had no problem.

Jesus challenged the Faith of the disciples, then gave advise of how to BUILD up this faith to the point of being effectual ! PRAYER and FASTING ! Getting more in touch with the spiritual realm...

One more thing : Jesus called the spiritual force a MOUNTAIN ! No, He was not talking about a hunk of dirt ! The whole teaching and expression was about confronting SPIRITUAL . He could have just as easily said Principality.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
And again in Ephesians 2 : 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the Prince of the Power of the air, the SPIRIT that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

So, we see the same disciples, that has been WITH Jesus, seeing all the miracles, wonders and signs, already has cast out devils, and healed the sick, now with A LACK OF FAITH. Was it a situation like as unto Peter walking on the water ? Suddenly disbelieving because of what the NATURAL eye was seeing ? I think so. Some of the confrontations of Satanic oppressions seem much too much, IN THE NATURAL WAY OF LOOKING !!! Thank God, that through fasting and prayer, we can dig a little deeper, and find FAITH in time of need ! HALLELUIAH !!! So I want to encourage you saints, to dig a little deeper, and find the FAITH it takes to overcome the obstacles the Prince of the power of the air, confronts you with !

Let ALL of the promises of God be : YEA, and AMEN !!!

When we get tired of not being able to walk as Jesus, talk as Jesus, do as Jesus, then let us get serious enough to DIG A LITTLE DEEPER ...
DENY the flesh, and take on the spiritual...

Yes he said that we could but dont forget the relationship everyone that he healed had great faith so it appears that the healing was a three way accomplishment. The actual power came through Yahsua from God but the recipients faith allowed it to happen or was at least very integral to the healing to happen. Your faith and growth in Christ will be implemental and is key to getting to that level of Christ-in-you. And with a few exceptions Christ's healing was by the spoken word.

Read "Science and Health" by Mary Baker Eddy or for more user friendly answer, go to christianscience.com Mrs. Eddy asked that same question throughout her life and after having a "miraculous" physical healing she researched how this happened to her....her answer was Christian Science...the "science" behind how Christ healed. I am a Christian Scientist and I can vouch for it. Hope this helps!

Jesus was God in person.

So it is fair to say He healed people.

But I can't even heal a sick gold fish!!! in fact my fish recently died.

But we are just men. But we can pray and receive a healng. GOD heals yesterday, today, and tomorrow!!! He never changes.

We do change, however. We are told, in the Bible, NOT to "pray to Him with dirty hands".

In other words, if you want God to do things for you, you'd better first be obedient to Him!

Yes, the Holy Spirit can work through people to heal others. I have seen evidence of this, and have read about many other instances.

There are times we can heal others instantly, and times it don't, because when you read the life of Jesus in the Gospels, you will find that in one passage that Jesus could not to anything in that region, because of unbelief, when someone don't believe for their healing, it makes no sense to pray or to lay hands, and even when both parties believe but yet still there is not healing, sometimes it takes a process to be heal after being prayed for, and sometimes supernaturally instant at times. But whether both believe or one believe, when we pray for someone, we especially have to believe regardless if that person got heal or not, the main thing is that we have honoured the request of the needy. There are more to it but this is the basic of reasons why some can and can't heal like Jesus.

Jesus said that those who believed in him would do greater things than He did.

So? Yes. But the healer is always God. The Holy Spirit gives the gift of healing to people & usually with the gift of faith. Because faith is a necessity with healing.

You need to ask God for the gift. And also maybe have someone with the gift of healing pray over you with the laying on of hands. Gifts are given through laying on of hands. And one has to realize it isn't us who does the healing. We are gifted with the anointing who does the healing.

And the one who needs healing also has to do their part. They need to do an act of faith to receive the healing (most of the time). When Jesus told a paralized man to get up & walk, they had to get up & walk. They had to act out in faith. And in the process of acting out in faith to Gods Word, healing occures. Many times people are healed by claiming Gods Word that written in the bible. They claim the healing verses out loud & bind any doubt casting doubt out.
