Although theoretically the higher the MP,the higher the enlargement, but other factors come into play.Everything being equal,a mp of 8 or higher will give an enlargement that you want. Keep brand in mind when shopping for a new camera.Since you have access to a computer, put it to use.Go to electronic sites, tech sites, computer sites;any one of these will give you an overall view of the top ten cameras on the market. this would be far more objective than me telling you to buy X brand with X pixs. You are investing in a piece of equipment that costs $$$.Research it,don't rush and you will end up with the best camera for the money you want to spend.By the way,I have a Canon, before that an HP and before that a Minolta.Ea. was what I wanted for the needs I had.Shop wisely and enjoy. 'Pixel' is an abbreviation of the term 'picture element'. A pixel represents a measurement of colour intensity, hue, and brightness in one specific tiny area of a picture. Each picture you take with your camera is composed of 5.1 million pixels (that is 5.1 mp). Let's do a couple of quick calculations.
For a clear picture at 11 x 14, each one of your pixels covers an area of (11 x 14) / 5.1million = 0.00003 square inches. The area of a 20 x 30 picture is 600 square inches. To have the same resolution or clarity you would need (600 / 0.00003) = 20 million pixels (or 20 mp).
If you are gtetting good clarity in a 12 x 18 picture, the pixel size goes up to (12 x 18) / 5.1million = 0.000043 square inches, and you should get the same clarity in a 20 x 30 picture with a (600 / 0.000043) = 13953488 pixels (say 14 mp).

I would go for a minimum of at least 10mp They blow up fairly well. If you can get a good 12+mp camera thats even better.

Fuzzy 8mp images get a bit grain when you hit 20 x 30

If you are reffering to inches, you would need atleast a 10MP to print 20x30.
If you are reffering to centimeters, a 6MP should do the trick.
