Depends on what island you want to land on!!!
LAX - Kauai: 6.0 hrs, LAX - Honolulu (Oahu): 5:50 hrs, LAX - Maui: 5:40, LAX - Kona (Big Island): 6.0 hrs

All the above are right. but you must know that it depends on which island u will be going to. if u are going to oahu then u will go right to oahu. if u might be going island hopping some times you need to fly to oahu, and then take another plane to reach that island. (make sure if you do this you check the air fares between the flights. right now we are having airplane rides wars. Hawaiian, Go, and Aloha are all having a price war, From what it looks like Aloha has given in. But make sure to check their sites before you just book a flight as one can get a flight down to $40.00 instead of over $100. they use to be charging)
Which ever island you go to just be sure to ENJOY it! Oh and if you are a reader, bring a long ole book, magazines, food gameboy or whatever it takes to keep you busy. As like they said ur flight is going to be around five UGH hours. But Hawaii is sooooooo soooooooo worth the wait and price.

About 5 hours by plane.. we used to fly there while on the way to the Philippines.
