Obviously I know I could go to a florist but is that my best best? DO they have fake petals somewhere that would be less expensive? How much are the real petals vs. fake ones?

Thanks!!

Um, Sunday is Mother's Day. He's going to pay a premium price for roses and/or rose petals on one of the biggest flower giving days of the year, next to Valentine's Day. So, as long as he doesn't care (and him mom isn't going to be PISSED OFF that he's not spending every waking second with the FIRST woman in his life), then he can go to any grocery store with a flower section, buy several dozen roses and start ripping the petals off the blooms. Costco and Sam's Club have roses in growers bunches of 25, just over 2 dozen. I don't think they jack up the price, just because it's a holiday, but I'm not sure. BTW, I'm kidding about his mom being pissed off, but seriously, the cost will be about double if he gets the flowers at a regular flower shot this weekend.

I can't tell you price wise because I don't know it depends on the florist place. You can go to a Wal-marts, Big Lots (if in your area), Christmas Tree Shop (again if in your area, and maybe they would have it). I know you can buy fake rose petals and get the rose scent to spray on the fake ones to make them smell like real ones.
I would say your best bet is to go for the real ones as expensive as they are you want to make this the time of her life and moment that she will never forget...Maybe add some candles and some soft music in the background. You want this to be romantic and take her breath away. Good Luck! make a post after the proposal to let us know how it went and what you did? (you can save details)

Do you have a Michaels arts and craft store? Or a Walmart (if yours has a wedding section). Either will have a Bucket of Petals. Usually red or pink. A bucket runs somewhere between $12 and $30, depending on the store.

Yes there is a big difference between real petals and fake ones. STAINING! If you value your carpet use fake. Unless you are doing it outside, then real is better since it can biodegrade. But there is a reason most churches ban real flowers. Roses stain fabric terribly!

Go with the real ones--they're so much nicer, this is a big occasion. Contact a florist or a grocery store floral department and tell them that you want just the rose petals--they may have roses that are "old" and losing their petals that they wouldn't sell, but are good for just the petals (maybe even free if they were going to throw them out anyway). Best wishes!

They sell fake petals at craft stores and even at Walmart....personally I wouldn't reccomend them since even the best quality silk petals still scream "fakes". You'll pay more for them.

For real ones walk into any grocery store, buy a dozen or so, and start pulling. A caution with this though is the pigment from the petals could stain carpet or fabrics when walked on.

To be honest though I know petals everywhere sounds romantic but if my HTB covered the house in them my first thought would be "who's going to clean this up?"

propose weekend rose petals

A proposal is a very special occasion that calls for the real thing. Your fiance can press them & keep them. I don't really know how much the real petals cost. Call around to some florist shops to find the best price. You are a romantic & the weekend will be memorable for both of you. Congrats to both of you.

Go to a local florist and ask them for the roses that they can use any more, they will sell them to you at a big discount, then you just break the heads of the stems and scatter the petals.

Be careful not to get dark red as it does stain fabric and carpets...
